Shaira Diaz and Ruru Madrid reacted to their love team introduction via the second season of the anthology series, I Can See You.
In a press conference for the ICSY: On My Way To You, Shaira said she felt grateful for the headstart brought by the mini-series for their love team, especially for their future pairing in the series Lolong.
“For Lolong po, okay lang, kasi masaya naman po si Ruru katrabaho. And, ‘yun nga headstart din sa Lolong din po. So, grateful po pa rin naman kung ano man po ang, kahit ano pa po ang gusto nilang mangyari po sa kung ilo-loveteam kami or hindi,” said Shaira.
As for Ruru, he recounted meeting Shaira before in Sunday Pinasaya. He then added it was an unexpected pairing for both of them.
“Bago pa kami magkatrabaho ni Shaira, nagkikita na rin kami lagi dahil si EA (Edgar Allan) kaibigan ko din. So, lagi kami nagkikita, before pa pagka nagkakaroon pa ng mga guesting si Shaira sa Sunday Pinasaya pa noon. Pero di namin inexpect na pwede pala kaming magkatrabaho,” said Ruru.
He also added that their stint in ICSY: On My Way To You helped them know each other better.
“So ngayon mas nakilala na po namin ang isa’t isa at mas nagamay po namin ang isa’t isa kung papaano po magtrabaho yung isa’t isa,” said Ruru.
Shaira then added that their stint in the anthology series helped them gauge their working dynamics as a love team before going into the series, Lolong.
“So, magandang opportunity din kasi, di na kami mahihirapan magkapaan pagdating sa Lolong, kumbaga alam na namin kung paano gumalaw, kung paano sya magtrabaho,” said Shaira.
Finally, Shaira and Ruru shared their personal lives will not affect their on-screen pairing since audiences today are more aware and mature.
“It’s just mas aware na yung mga tao sa mga nangyayari dito, na trabaho po ito. Kami bilang actor, our goal is to entertain people,” said Ruru.
“Yung audience ngayon mas mature na sila so parang mas kaya na nilang mag-move forward kung naiba yung partner nung mga idols nila, ‘yung mga sinusuportahan nila,” said Shaira.
Shaira and Ruru top-bills the series, Lolong, one of the projects teased back in 2020 but halted by the pandemic. However, GMA Network aims to launch the series this 2021.
For now, Shaira and Ruru stars in the first offering for the second season of I Can See You: On My Way To You. Joining them are a stellar cast with Arra San Agustin, Gil Cuerva, Ashley Rivera, Malou de Guzman, and Richard Yap. Directed by Mark Reyes, the mini-series airs this March 22, 2021, on GMA Network.
