Veteran broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo threatened to leave the TV5 network after his driver tested positive for the COVID-19.
Tulfo is an anchor in the Philippine news broadcasting show ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ by TV5. His influence in the Kapatid network makes him a major personality as his programs are one of the most-watched programs on TV5.
He is also known for his weekday afternoon radio program titled ‘Wanted sa Radyo’ on Radyo5 32.3 News FM where he focuses on aiding the poor for domestic affairs and societal injustices.
According to Abante’s article, Tulfo mentioned in the March 26 episode of ‘Wanted sa Radyo’ that his driver experienced symptoms of the coronavirus just after he was driven home from his ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ program.
Prior to his ‘Wanted sa Radyo’ episode on March 26, Tulfo and his driver went to St. Luke’s Medical Center in E. Rodriguez, Quezon City where they went to test for the virus. Tulfo’s driver tested positive for the virus while Tulfo tested negative.
After getting the result, Tulfo and his driver went into self-quarantine as a safety protocol for COVID-19. He then vented his anger at the TV5 management, specifically in the Human Resources department for not taking the necessary precautions to ensure that their employees are safe from the virus.
Tulfo also spoke to all the companies in the Philippines that the management should be strict with implementing the safety protocols for the COVID-19.
He noted that the TV5 network should conduct an antigen test every two weeks on all of the Kapatid employees to ensure the safety of everyone working in the network.
He then threatened that should the network would fail to comply, he would pack his bags and leave the network.
“Kapag hindi po natupad ‘yung kondisyon kong ‘yan na walang every two weeks na antigen test sa mga nakakahalubilo ko diyan sa news, hindi po ako papasok, I will resign and I’m serious about this,” said Tulfo.
