Mariel Rodriguez is one of the original hosts of ABS-CBN’s reality show, ‘Pinoy Big Brother.’ However, she was not included in the recently concluded season, ‘PBB Connect.’
Despite this, Rodriguez still showed support for the show during its final night last March 14, 2021.
On Instagram, PBB regular host Bianca Gonzales posted a photo with fellow host Toni Gonzaga, showing their preparation for the big night.
In the comments, Mariel expressed her love for her former co-hosts saying, “Love you both!!!” (referring to Toni and Bianca).

Bianca then replied, “We never not miss you every season” with three red hearts emojis.
Mariel hosted 10 out of 15 seasons of PBB. To recall, Mariel left her PBB hosting career when she moved to TV5 in 2010. After several years, she returned during the ‘PBB: 737’ season in 2015 until she decided to leave the show again in 2016, this time, to focus on hosting in ‘It’s Showtime’.
In 2018, when she gave birth to their second child, she took a break from ‘It’s Showtime.’ But she did not come back until the non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise.
Mariel however hopes that she can return to ABS-CBN saying, “ABS-CBN is my home. In my mind and in my heart…when the time is right I will be back.”
Does her non-inclusion in these major ABS-CBN shows have something to do with her political stand?
As known to many, her husband, Robin Padilla is a solid supporter of President Duterte. During the non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise, she was questioned about her stand since she’s one of those Kapamilyas who allegedly remained mum about the issue.
She then responded to the allegations saying, “Hindi ako nanahimik. Hindi mo lang narinig yung way ko of standing up for them.”
“Just because hindi ako nag rally at hindi ako nag-noise barrage, hindi ‘nun ibig sabihin na nanahimik ako. False ka din,” she added.
Could Mariel Padilla return to ABS-CBN? Should we expect her in the next PBB season?
‘PBB Connect’ recently hailed Liofer Pinatacan of Zamboanga del Sur, as the newest Big Winner. His runners-up include Andrea Abaya and Kobie Brown, who are both from Parañaque, and Jie-Ann Armero from Sarangani.
