Getting paired with a veteran is an honor for many young celebrities. But what if a young actor gets partnered with a never-aging actress like Ina Raymundo?
In Ampalaya Chronicles: Me & Mrs. Cruz, the 23-year-old Paulo Angeles asked himself if he is up to the challenge of portraying his character in the third installment of the anthology series.
“Yung unang question na umano sa isip ko, ‘kaya ko ba gampanan yung role?'” he shared.
Angeles revealed that he is extremely nervous after he learned that his leading lady was none other than Raymundo.
“Yung kabado, sobra. Every time na pinag-popose kami ni Miss Ina, alam mo yung feeling na sinasabi nilang closer pero yung katawan ko hindi makalapit sa sobrang naninigas. Parang nahihiya na talaga ako.”
However, the timidness that the actor felt was erased after he and Raymundo did a look test during their locked-in taping in Bulacan.
“Nawala naman nung look test na nagstart na yung kwentuhan namin ni Miss Ina na parang na-relax ako,” he said.
But what made him even more nervous was his spoken poetry scenes where he recited long pages of poems.
“Kung tutuusin sa story, pinaka-kinabahan din ako yung poetry. Sobrang lalalim ng mga words na hindi ko ginagamit.
“Pressured syempre.”
The actor also shared his most memorable moment on the set. According to Angeles, he cannot forget the time when he used shampoo as his toothpaste.
“Gusto kong kalimutan yung pina-toothbrush ako ni Kristof ng shampoo,” the actor shared.
The culprit behind him using shampoo on his teeth was his co-star Kristof Garcia whom he asked a favor.
“Kasi naiwan ko yung toothbrush ko sa hotel. Eh si Kristof papunta pa lang. So sabi ko padala naman ng toothbrush ko. Nilagay nya sa isang supot. Tapos muka siyang toothpaste. Hindi ko alam bat niya nilagay yung shampoo dun. Nagulat ako na bat clear yung toothpaste. Tapos nagulat na lang ako ang pait, iba ang lasa. Pag amoy ko, shampoo pala,” he recalled.
Garcia chimed in that there was indeed toothpaste in the plastic bag he gave.
“May toothpaste dun, hindi niya lang nakita,” he said.
