During the press conference for I Can See You: On My Way, showrunners senior program manager Anthony Pastorpide and director Mark Reyes shared their thoughts on what made season one successful.
They also hinted that the second season will be better than the first one.
Director Reyes highlighted that the format of the anthology series made it unique and fresh. He compared it to streaming services which had short storylines and fast-paced storytelling.
“I guess it’s the format also. I think during the pandemic, nasanay yung tao sa mga K-Drama, or sa Netflix, or sa Iflix. Nasanay sila sa short term storylines ng mga eight episodes to fourteen episodes.
“Mas bumibilis yung storytelling, more challenges how to make it exciting for just five days. The format (and) the running time made it unique and fresh compared to what we’re used to na mga teleserye na matagal na bagsakan,” said Director Reyes.
As for senior program manager Pastorpide, he focused on the series’ presentation. He said that its short and compressed storytelling helped the audience easily grasp the narrative.
“Yung presentation, sanay kasi tayo to watch long running soaps, ito dahil maiksi sya nacocompress mo lahat. Yung story mabilis sya, and hindi ka maghihintay ng matagal makukuha mo agad yung istorya.”
Pastorpide also shared that their learnings from the first season of the anthology series helped mount a better second season for I Can See You.
“Marami kaming learnings from Season 1, and yun, we get to apply with this. All I can say is, it’s a better production than the first one.”
I Can See You starts its second season with On My Way To You. The anthology series stars Shaira Diaz and Ruru Madrid. Completing the stellar cast are Arra San Agustin, Gil Cuerva, Ashley Rivera, Malou de Guzman, and Richard Yap. Episodes air starting this March 22, 2021, on GMA Network.
