Presidential spokesman Harry Roque has eaten his word concerning his statement–blaming the Filipinos on the rise of COVID-19 cases.
Roque in his past statement has blamed the public’s being ‘pasaway’ (pesky) as the main cause of the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
In one of his briefings in Malacañang, he cited that Singaporeans are following religiously their health protocols, but he pointed that Filipinos are behaving the contrary.
Roque’s words backfired on him when he announced on Monday, March 15 that he tested positive for COVID-19.
He has been criticized in the past for breaching health protocols.
Back in July 2020 when there was a strict implementation of lockdown and quarantine measures, Duterte’s mouthpiece (Roque) went swimming with the dolphins in Ocean Adventures’ Subic while the rest of the population was ordered to stay home.
Netizens meanwhile made a way to remind Roque of his own words regarding being ‘pasaway’ in the middle of the pandemic.
@antiDDSvirus shared a video compilation of Roque’s controversial out-of-town trips amidst travel restrictions. The Netizen also blasted Roque for his refusal to show his COVID-test result.

@IamCharotism also share the video compilation with a caption of a song lyrics that says “Hmm, batang pasaway, At lahat sasabay, Hanggang mamatay, Rawstarr, Dadalhin ko hanggang mamatay, uh.”

@jb_tiamson also tweeted the same video saying Roque and PNP Chief Debold Sinas are the true ‘pasaways’.

@petervilladolid meanwhile sarcastically took Roque’s words to advise people not to be ‘pasaway.’
“Mahiya na naman kayo!! Panay bakasyun nyo!! Manatili dapat sa mga bahay!! Pasaway kayo!! As per Roque.”

@ron_arrojo also chided Roque for creating the rules and disobeying it as well.
“Tffffff! Taga gawa ng rules pero sila din sumasaway! Okaaaay goods huh!”

@akosiHunyo on the other hand borrowed Partylist Rep. Carlo Zarate’s words saying Roque is the ultimate example of ‘pasaway.’
