Former “Idol Philippines” finalist Miguel Odron brings a neo-soul R&B twist to one of Air Supply’s greatest hits “Lost In Love,” a new Tarsier Records track that is set to drop on digital platforms on March 26 (Friday).
“I worked on this song in Siargao, one of the beautiful islands here in the Philippines, and I guess that’s how the breezy, island energy wormed its way into the production,” Miguel revealed.
Inspired by 8-bit theme songs from old video games, the Kapamilya artist self-produced a unique take on the Air Supply classic, incorporating chill hop elements to a bed of bossa nova sounds and topping it off with his smooth vocals.
“Personally I’d listen to this on the road, while working out, or whenever I just wanna chill out. It’s the kind of song that doesn’t need your full attention to be appreciated, it can just chill out in the back,” he enthused.
The singer-songwriter also talked about his eagerness in interpreting a song that is recognized by music lovers around the world. “The massive untouchable impact of the original freed me from the pressure of trying to do just as good, so I could really focus on just having fun with it and reproducing the song as if I wrote it myself,” he said.
Miguel’s “Lost In love” rendition is part of Tarsier Records’ series of Air Supply remakes to be released as a compilation album by the end of 2021. It follows Inigo Pascual’s reimagined version of “All Out Of Love” out last February.
Written by Air Supply’s Graham Russell, “Lost In Love” was released in 1980 and reached no. 3 in the US Billboard Hot 100.
