As ABS-CBN shuts down its broadcast, following the non-renewal of its franchise in July 2020, it was also forced to lay-off most of its workers, including talents.
Losing a job amidst the pandemic is one of the biggest challenges that these workers have faced. Several celebrities also decided to shift to another network and one of them is Maja Salvador.
With her network shift, many blind items against her arise including the rumors that she allegedly influenced other Kapamilya stars to leave the network.
Talent manager Ogie Diaz even revealed on his YouTube vlog that there are former Kapamilya stars with initials ‘B’ and ‘M’, who cannot return to ABS-CBN anymore because they tried to convince other stars to transfer to another network.
After the termination of ‘Sunday Noontime Live,’ rumors circulated that she received offers from the GMA Network.
But after being mum for a long time, Maja finally addressed these issues during her online interview with PEP.ph.
She disaffirmed that she invited other stars to join her in TV5. Accordingly, she knows about the rumors circulating but she chose to remain quiet.
“Nakakatawa lang. So, ang sagot ko, no. Hindi po. Hindi talaga. Hindi talaga,” she said. “Tinawanan ko na nga lang iyon, e. Sabi ko, ‘May bago na naman sila.’”
Maja said that she foresaw the flak she will receive before finally deciding on joining Johnny Manahan in TV5.
“Nung nag-yes talaga ako kay Mr. M, bago ko sabihin yung ‘yes’, inisip ko na po iyan lahat. Maba-bash na naman ako. Laman na naman ako [ng mga balita]. Dami na naman nilang sasabihin. Mas alam na naman nila, for sure. Hinanda ko yung sarili ko kaya kahit anong mabasa ko, okay lang. Okay lang talaga,” she said.
Regarding the question of whether she received offers from GMA Network, she did not directly answer it but she confirmed that she received many offers from different networks.
“I’m very grateful nga, marami! Kahit PTV-4, RPN-9! Charot!” she said.
Despite all of these allegations, Maja is still grateful because of the opportunities given to her amidst the pandemic.
“So, nakakatuwa lang na parang yung pagda-doubt mo sa sarili mo na baka walang kumuha o nakakatakot dahil baka walang mabigay na project, ang daming ganun noong kasagsagan ng pandemya last year. Nagugulat ako na marami pong offers kaya super thankful,” Maja said.
She is currently running a talent agency with her boyfriend Rambo Nuñez. She is no longer a Star Magic artist and she is currently a freelancer.
Together with Empoy, Maja will also star in a TV5 series ‘Niño Niña’, which is expected to kick-off on April 12.
