Phenomenal star Maine Mendoza will be hosting her first-ever show on TV5 with Paolo Ballesteros.
Recently, Sarah Geronimo‘s sudden move to TV5 to host a new show named PoPinoy has ignited speculations, too.
This came about when Geronimo’s photo was featured on TV5’s teaser ad “Pop-Siklaban Na!” with the caption: “PoPahuli ba kayo? Don’t miss the chance. The Popstar Royalty is rooting for you!”
PoPinoy is TV5’s search for the ‘biggest pop boyband’, which will begin in April 2021.
Sarah happened to be the brand ambassador of the cellular service provider, which is the main sponsor of PoPinoy. That is why her photo was used in the teaser ad for the upcoming program of the Kapatid network.
Since the Popstar Royalty made an exclusive deal with ABS-CBN, her only appearance on TV5 would be through the Kapamilya’s musical variety show ASAP, which aired every Sunday on the Network.
It was also because of her exclusive contract why her Tala: The Film Concert can only be viewed on streaming platforms that are ABS-CBN’s sister companies.
Sarah’s fans may have been so excited with the teaser ad that came out, however, their idol has no participation in TV5’s PoPinoy.
Maine Mendoza and Paolo Ballesteros are the official hosts of the said talent search.
PoPinoy was among the eight new shows launched by TV5 on August 15, 2020, and this would be Maine’s first show on the Kapatid network.
Since Maine is a talent of Triple A, APT Entertainment’s talent management arm, there has no conflict between the 25-year-old host and GMA Network Inc.
APT Entertainment is a subsidiary of TAPE Inc. that produced the longest-running noontime variety show in the Philippines, Eat Bulaga! where the TV host-actress is a regular mainstay.
In 2015, Mendoza earned the title of Philippine’s Queen of Dubsmash after her dubsmash videos went viral online with millions of views overnight.
She then joined the cast as Yaya Dub on Eat Bulaga‘s Kalyeserye segment with Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, and was paired to co-host Alden Richards (which the tandem became popularly known as AlDub).
In the same year, she won the Best Supporting Actress at the 41st Metro Manila Film Festival for her role in 2015 Jose Javier Reyes‘s film My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore.
She also wrote and sang the theme song of the 2016 romantic-comedy film Imagine You and Me, where she was the lead star alongside Alden Richards.
Maine and Alden starred in Destined to be Yours, as their first primetime series in 2017.
Among her recent films, include Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles in 2018, Isa Pa With Feelings, and Mission Unstapabol: The Don Identity both in 2019.
Maine was also a author, who in October 2017, released Yup, I am That Girl, her autobiographical book published by Summit Media.
In 2018, the TV host-actress signed a record deal with Universal Records. Maine’s first album was produced by Neocolours vocalist Ito Rapadas.
