Senator Ping Lacson has revealed that fellow Senator and boxer Manny Pacquiao has plans to run for President in the 2022 elections.
In an interview on ANC on Friday, March 19, Lacson shared that Pacquiao has been talking to him about his plans for 2022 and asking for his help with the campaign, especially about the budget.
“Sa Senate, kasi halos seatmates kami…two or three times, he approached me and sat beside me and he said ‘Baka pwedeng magusap tayo?’ Kasi yun nga, may plano nga siya baka pwedeng tulungan siya especially sa budget, ‘yong mga ganon,” Lacson shared.
Lacson also confirmed that Pacman is eyeing the Presidency when asked about the latter’s plan.
“This was late last year. Yeah. Sinabi naman niya. He’s quite open about it. Although, ayaw niyang pagusapan because of COVID and in fairness to him, consistent naman siya na COVID muna tayo, ‘wag na muna ‘yong pulitika,” he added.
Previously, in an interview with Karen Davila, Pacquiao has indirectly admitted his Presidential plans in 2022.
During the interview, Pacman was asked about his political plans.
Although the Senator tried to evade the question, he still gave a hint.
“You cannot please everyone. I can easily forego politics but not the opportunity to serve the people,” said Pacquiao.
Also, Pacquiao has been active lately in events where he is seen giving cash and donations to the people.

Meanwhile, following Lacson’s revelation, Pacquiao opted not to confirm if he intended to throw his hats off for the 2022 Presidential elections.
In a video message Friday, March 19, Pacquiao said that Presidency is a destiny given by God. He also asked everyone to stop division by politics of color and wished that the next President will be someone who truly cares for the welfare of every Filipino.
“Ang pagiging presidente ay destiny na kalooban ng panginoon. Marami nang nangarap marami na rin ang nabigo (Becoming president is a God-given destiny. Many persons have aspired, but many of them failed to achieve it).
“Ngunit ang hangad ko sa susunod na magiging presidente ay tunay na malasakit at tunay na pagmamamhal sa mamamayang Pilipino (But what I want for our next president is to have a genuine compassion and love for the Filipino people).
“Tigilan na natin ang kulay pulitika, wala nang dilaw, wala nang pula, wala nang orange o ano mang kulay mo. Maawa naman tayo sa sambayanang Pilipino (Let’s put a stop to these political colors–there should be no yellow, no reds, no orange, or any other color. Let’s have mercy on the Filipino people,” he said.
