After “The Clash,” champion Jessica Villarubin shocked the audience with her new look on GMA Network’s “All Out Sundays,” the champ finally revealed that she underwent some enhancement on her face.
This was revealed during a media conference for her latest single, “Ako Naman.” According to Jessica, she decided to improve herself because of the bullying she experienced.
“Yun ‘nga, nagpa-enhance ako. Kasi this is what I want to do with myself. Because po dati binubully po ako. Binubully kasi ako dati and you know, parang nawala ‘yung confidence ko,” revealed the power diva.
“Dati kasi talaga sinasabi sakin magaling ka lang kumanta, but pangit ka, mga ganun. Like pag mag-a-audition ako, hindi ako natatanggap. Ewan ko ba, pero nagdodoubt ako sa sarili ko dati.”
The singer also recalled that people used to tell her that she was lucky to have an amazing voice but unattractive.
“As in growing up, nabubully na talaga ako. Parang pangit nga, pango ang ilong, ganyan. Maganda lang yung boses pero hindi maganda. Actually madami na, pati sa work ko. Kahit saan ako magpunta sinusundan ako ng ganyan,” recalled Jessica.
Another instance, when she was applying for work that she received degrading comments from her supposed-to-be boss who was ashamed to perform alongside her because of her looks.
“Nung nag-apply ako ng work, tapos sabi ng isang boss sabi na, ‘ay tatanggapin niyo ba ‘yan? Kasi pag tinanggap niyo ‘yan mahihiya akong magperform sa stage’,” she shared.
After winning the third season of the competition “The Clash,” Jessica finally got the chance to do what she really wanted to do—change her appearance.
“Nabigyan lang ako ng chance ngayon, ng blessing, na nagawa ko ‘yung gusto kong gawin sa sarili ko,” she said.
But of course, there were side effects when a person undergoes plastic surgery. Luckily for Jessica, her surgeon assured her that it will not affect her voice at all.
“Before ko ginawa, nag-ask naman ako sa surgeon ko kung may mababago ba. Inexplain naman ng doctor ko kung ano ‘yung magiging resulta niya, if makakaapekto ba. Inalam ko na and thankful ako na sinabi ni doc na wala naman daw mababago kasi sa labas lang naman,” the singer explained.
And with her decision and finally had the opportunity to change her appearance, Jessica shared that she is happy that she made the leap towards change.
“Happy ako sa naging desisyon ko. Kahit dati pa man nung iniisip ko siya, na gusto ko talaga siyang gawin para sa sarili ko. But not really 100% parang iniisip ko lang,” Jessica said.
The power diva underwent surgery on her nose called rhinoplasty. Jessica also had done a little something on her eyes and added a few fats on her face. With her new look, she is now feeling more confident than ever.
