At the press conference for her upcoming movie Dito at Doon, actress Janine Gutierrez reacted to the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
As an outspoken artist, she said people could use more urgency and information for the COVID-19 vaccine rollout. Janine also added her advocacy for voter registration through sharing information about the process via her social media.
“I think we could all use a lot more urgency and information. Sana agad-agad na tayo mabigyan ng opportunity na makabalik sa normal at mas safe na buhay syempre that’s the top priority but aside from that, I’m really trying to be vocal with voter’s registration. Yung impormasyon kung kailan ba bukas ang COMELEC para magparehistro. San ba pwede? So (as) much as possible, I try to share (on) my stories kung ano mang pwedeng mashare tungkol dun,” said Janine.
Janine also thanked her fellow artists and her supporters who inspire her when it comes to social issues.
“Of course, malaking bagay po yung mga sumusuporta, I get a lot of tweets on Twitter and comments on Instagram at sobrang nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng fans sa lahat ng mga kaibigan, mga tao sa social media na nagbibigay ng suporta and who feel the same way, and who appreciate people who speak up about things kahit baka medyo mayroong mga ibang hindi masyadong sangayon dun. So malaking pasasalamat po sa lahat ng fans at sa ibang artista na hinahangaan ko din na ganon din pag tingin,” said Janine.
Aside from receiving inspiration from supporters and other artists, she also shared that she inspired her mom, actress Lotlot De Leon, to speak up about social issues.
“Actually, nakakatuwa nga, kasi dati, maybe like last year, my mom would tell me na anak wag ka na masyadong magsalita, magsabi ng kung ano-ano, tas parang kami ng mga kapatid ko very vocal sa ganyan and nainspire din kami nung mga artista na ganon din. So recently naman, yung mommy ko very vocal na rin. So, it’s really possible to inspire other people kahit na nanay mo yun na dating sinusuway ka,” said Janine.
Janine is one of the most vocal artists in the showbiz industry supporting various advocacies, especially during the pandemic.
Dito at Doon features artists Janine, JC Santos, Yesh Burce, and Victor Anastacio. Janine’s mom Lotlot De Leon also has a special participation in the movie. Directed by JP Habac, the film premieres on select movie theaters this March 17, 2021, and will be up for streaming via KTX.ph, iWant TFC, and Cinema 76 @ Home, and ticket2me.net this March 31, 2021.
