Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez is not backing down on her vigilance about social issues.
In her latest social media post, Janine asked her followers and the Netizens to look at the more important news.
Also in her post is an art card containing President Duterte’s picture holding a riffle and a text from his March 5, 2021 statement saying “Kill them right away. Ignore human rights, that’s my order.”
In a speech on Friday, March 5, Duterte issued a shoot to kill order against rebels and communists who according to him are out to overthrow his government.
“That’s why I told the military and police that if the enemy is holding a gun during encounters, kill them. Kill them right away.
“If there’s an encounter and you see them armed, kill, kill them, don’t mind human rights, I will be the one to go to prison, I don’t have qualms,” said the President.
Following Duterte’s statement, nine un-armed activists were killed in what is now called the Bloody Sunday.
On Sunday, March 7, just two days after Duterte’s kill order, nine activists were killed while six were arrested in a police crackdown in provinces of Laguna, Rizal, and Batangas.
Janine has been known to be vocal on social media concerning socio-political issues.
During the zoom conference for their upcoming movie Dito at Doon, Janine said she was inspired by other artists who are also not afraid to voice out their concerns about society and criticisms of the government.
“Kasi dati maybe like last year my mom would tell me na anak wag ka na masyado magsasalita, magsabi ng kung ano-ano. Tas parang, eh kame naman ng mga kapatid ko very vocal sa ganyan and naispire din kame nung mga artista na ganun din. So recently naman yung mommy ko very vocal na rin talagang so it’s really possible to inspire other people kahit pa nanay mo yan na dating sumusuway ka,” Janine shared.
Meanwhile, aside from her hosting stint in ASAP Natin ‘To Janine is also currently busy promoting her film Dito at Doon alongside another Kapamilya star JC Santos.
Directed by JP Jabac and produced by TBA Studios, the movie is set to premiere on March 17.
The movie tells the story of Len (Janine) and Carlo (JC) who both found love through online connection during the pandemic.
