Janine Gutierrez criticizes the government for its insensitivity for the poor amid the surge of COVID-19 cases

Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierez on Tuesday, March 23, aired out her frustration regarding the government’s utter carelessness to the people. On her Twitter account, Gutierez criticized the lack of concern of the Administration who only suggested to endure the effects of the surge of COVID cases.

This was after President Rodrigo Duterte dismissed the call for the country’s economy to once again shut down to contain the spread of the virus.

“So kung sarahan mo naman ‘yan lahat– medyo tagilid na ang ekonomiya (If you close it all– our economy is not good) and that is a problem.

“It would be a disaster for our country. Kung sarahan mo talaga lahat (If you will really close everything down), it would be a disaster for the country,” Duterte said.

After the Philippines has recorded its highest COVID-19 cases in a day, the Department of Health (DOH) has urged the public to stay at home during the Holy Week.

Speaker of the House Lord Allan Velasco likewise urged Filipinos to remain indoors unless there is a need to go outside.

“With new COVID-19 cases reaching record highs, we must at all times heed the stay-at-home advice of our health authorities. This way, we are not only helping curb the spread of the virus but more importantly, we are saving lives,” Velasco said in a statement.

But what made the actress mad was the remark of the President belittling the fast-rising number of cases just to not close the economy of the country.

“Balance-balance na lang tayo tutal maliit pa naman ito. It’s small–not really small but ah… Not so many are being affected in the sense that your movements are being curtailed,” the President said.

Gutierrez replied to a Netizen, who compared the Philippines to the rest of the world enduring the pandemic.

Janine insisted that her criticism is not for her but for Filipinos who cannot survive another lockdown.

Janine also clapped back at a certain DDS named Jam Magno after the Netizen asked her to be quiet if she does not have any solution to the problem.

The actress shared her solution—that the government’s loans [specifically for COVID] must go to mass vaccination.

Mass vaccination is one.

Gutierrez is among the few celebrities who use their voice to echo the cries of ordinary Filipino citizens. Along with Liza Soberano and Angel Locsin, she is vocal in criticizing the government. Janine also took the responsibility to share information with the masses.

“I think it’s important lang to shed light on important topics. No matter naman kung ano yung trabaho mo, whether artista ka or anything else. Pero parang bilang artista, mas may malaki kang responsibilidad na gamitin yung platform mo para ma-share kung ano yung nalalaman mo na possibly hindi alam ng ibang tao.

“And it’s really important to discuss these things. And madami din akong natutunan sa ibang artistang ganon. Like of course Angel and Liza. And I think it’s really important to be vocal. Dahil hindi mo rin alam kung sino yung kailangang makarinig ng sasabihin mo,” added the actress during an interview with MJ Felipe.

Angel Locsin recently criticized President Duterte on her Instagram for belittling Covid-19.

Locsin disagreed with Duterte as the latter claimed that COVID-19 is just a small thing in the lives of Filipinos. The actress stressed that only the President is unaffected by the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Liza Soberano called out the government for its lack of support for the poor amid the pandemic. Soberano on Twitter questioned the lack of a stimulus package for Filipinos.
