Iñigo Pascual has shared his reaction about his former loveteam partner Maris Racal’s rumored romance with Rivermaya’s Rico Blanco.
Rumors about the real score between young actress Maris Racal and singer-songwriter Rico Blanco recently took over social media platforms.
Racal shared a video of them singing together on her Instagram as she greeted the singer on his 48th birthday, sparking speculations that they are already dating.
The post had a simple caption, but what drew the most attention was the singer’s comment telling Racal that he loves her. Amid the speculations, the two remained mum about the real status between them.
During his Pop Cinema interview with MJ Felipe and Bianca Gonzales, singer-actor Iñigo Pascual bared his thoughts and feelings in the most sincere way. Felipe asked Pascual’s reaction about the rumors that his former loveteam partner might be dating Rico Blanco.
Pascual said he couldn’t say much because the rumor has yet to be confirmed. But whatever the case might be, he said he is happy for them, knowing how much the young actress admires the OPM icon.
“Wala naman akong masasabi pa. Wala pa namang nagko-confirm or anything. For me, kung sila, masaya ako kasi syempre alam ko kung gaano ka-idolo ni Maris ‘yun,” he said.
He even recalled singing some of Blanco’s songs back when he and Racal were still onscreen pair.
“Noong loveteam kami ni Maris, talagang, as in pinapakanta sa akin ‘yung mga kanta ni Rico,” Pascual added.
He also shared how he has been supportive and congratulated Racal for her music collaboration with Blanco.
“So, with them being friends, and the fact na nagka-collab sila dati, sobrang supportive ako doon. Kino-congratulate ko siya kasi alam kong sobrang idol niya ‘yun,” he shared.
The 23-year-old singer said that people should be happy for them, and he wished the rumored couple the best as he believed that “love is love and it’s a beautiful thing.”
“Kung ano man ‘yung balita, siguro we should all just be happy for them if they are together. Kasi, you know, I mean love is love, and it’s a beautiful thing. And there’s so many people na inlove na ganun ‘yung sitwasyon. So, if ever man ‘di ba, let’s be happy for them, and wishing them all the best,” said Pascual.
As for his love life, Pascual assured that he is happily single. He added that he is focusing on his family, his career, and himself.
Dubbed as MarÑigo, their loveteam started in 2014 when Iñigo’s father, Piolo Pascual, visited the Pinoy Big Brother house and teased Racal to his son.
They admitted to being awkward with each other when they first met on the set of Piolo’s “Hawak Kamay” shoot. But that awkwardness vanished when they both starred in the horror film “Bloody Crayons.”
The two revealed that they were exclusively dating in 2017, but there has been no confirmation of a relationship since then.
It was revealed that they called each other Mama Me and Papa Pe during their guest appearance on Gandang Gabi Vice. Racal even wrote a song for Pascual, “Ikaw Lang Sapat Na,” released as a single in 2018.
Racal admitted in a July 2019 interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda that Pascual had broken her heart when they decided they couldn’t make it work between them. Two months later, Pascual publicly apologized to the actress during his guesting on Magandang Buhay.
The two have since clarified that they are on good terms and have moved on from the heartbreak.
In 2020, they reunited in Star Cinema’s “Boyette: Not a Girl Yet” with Zaijian Jaranilla, directed by Jumbo Albano. It was also a year after they starred in “I’m Ellenya L,” a Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019 entry.
