Pinoy Big Brother concluded its historic 15th edition last night, with concurrent live viewers across multiple platforms, reaching record-setting milestones
Fourteen weeks, after its sensational return in December last year, Pinoy Big Brother closed its doors, once again, when it declared its 16th Big Winner, on the 14th of March, 2021. Among the eighteen official housemates, who entered the house, the Zamboanga-native, Liofer Pinatacan, emerged as the most victorious, as netizens and viewers, named him the big winner of this season.
Emerging as Pinatacan’s runner-ups are fellow Big 4 housemates, Andrea Abaya (2nd Big Placer), Kobie Brown (3rd Big Placer), and Jie-Ann Romero, who hailed from Sarangani, as the 4th Big Placer. Pinatacan’s extravagant prizes include a house and lot, a PhP1 million cash, and a management contract. His coronation was also notably graced by the presence of several big winners from the past seasons, including Maymay Entrata and Kim Chiu, who were physically present at the Big Night, while rising P-Pop act, BGYO, excited their fans as they danced into the remix version of their hit debut single, The Light.
Aside from Liofer Pinatacan’s sensational win, what made this season truly historic, is the amount of attention it generated online, as it posted some of the record-breaking milestones any television program has ever pulled off on a number of social media platforms.
On Kapamilya Online Live (Youtube) for example, total concurrent viewers who watched the Big Night, peaked at a whopping 110,000—a figure only Kapamilya programs, TV Patrol and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano usually pull-off. It can be noted, however, that those two programs air at much earlier time slots, which make PBB’s figures on the said platform, extravagantly outstanding.

On Kumu, on the other hand, the figure soared past 130,000 concurrent viewers. Kumu is largely credited to have opened the possibility of bringing back the show on-air, and eventually became its biggest partner platform, where majority of the votes to evict and save, are cast. On facebook, PBB Connect’s big night were made available on two livestreams: one on the ABS-CBN Network page, and another on the Pinoy Big Brother’s official page. Concurrent viewers for these pages are reportedly to have peaked at 100,000 and 20,000, respectively.
While it remains to be seen, whether or not a similar feat is pulled off, in the ratings battle, what these numbers prove is that PBB Connect is undoubtedly a successful season, and is definitely not going to be the last one.
