In celebration of Women’s Month this March, CNN Philippines is joining the global call to action to accelerate gender equality and inclusivity. The network is holding a series of activities that are all geared towards this year’s theme, “Choose to Challenge, Celebrating Women Who Are Making A Change.”
To kick-off the campaign, CNN Philippines invites the public to share their thoughts through the Strike a Pose social media contest. Post a photo or video of yourself doing the ‘promise’ pose along with your answer to the question: What challenges do women continue to face today and how you can be part of the solution? Tag @cnnphilippines on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Kumu together with the hashtag #CNNPHChooseToChallenge for a chance to win special merchandised items and a chance to be featured on the morning show, New Day.
Back for a 2nd year is Reel Filipina Digital Short Film Competition. This competition calls for filmmakers and aspiring content creators to produce a 2-to-4-minute video revolving around the message of this year’s International Women’s Month, “a challenged world is an alert world.” The competition will have three winners – the People’s Choice Awardee will get Php 20,000 and Kumunity Choice Awardee will get Php 10,000. The jury will be comprised of Director/Producer/Writer Antoinette Jadaone, Independent Filmmaker and UP Film Institute Faculty Member Sari Dalena, and Filmmaker and Film Historian Nick Deocampo.

Another activity lined up for this month is a virtual roundtable titled #ChooseToChallenge: Make A Change. It will feature female leaders who rose to the occasion and inspired women to power through life’s challenges. The goal is to spotlight these women so they can share insights that can empower and inform our audience. The discussion will be moderated by CNN Philippines Senior Anchor and Correspondent, Pinky Webb, with distinguished panelists from the arts, academe and business. This will be streamed via CNN Philippines Facebook, YouTube and Kumu on Friday, March 19.
