Duterte was currently in self-isolation as his doctors and the Presidential Security Group (PSG) has advised. This was revealed by his Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo on the same day.
According to Panelo, the President will not be celebrating his birthday as he decided to have himself in isolation due to exposure to officials that have contracted the coronavirus.
“PRRD (President Duterte) will again self-quarantine himself on his birthday following the advice of the Presidential Security Group as well as his doctors for his protection given that his presidential duties have exposed him to officials and other persons around him,” said Panelo.
After Duterte returned to Davao, celebrities, personalities, and Netizens criticized him for having the privilege to return to his hometown whenever he pleases.
Singer and stage actress Bituin Escalante took a jab at Duterte as he celebrated his 76th birthday. The singer “envied” the President for having the ease to travel and eat with good food.
This was after Duterte conducted a non-essential flight from NCR to Davao. However, the new ECQ guidelines have only allowed essential travels or only essential and authorized persons outside of their residences (APOR) are allowed.

ABS-CBN journalist Chiara Zambrano criticized Duterte for the fake “simple” celebration.
Duterte was captured blowing a birthday candle on a cup of rice. Later on, a video surfaced, disproving the claim of Bong Go that Duterte had a simple birthday celebration.
The video showed that there was an actual cake for the President, as well as a lechon (roasted pig).
Ay may lechon. Ay may totoong cake. Ay may akmang hihipuan.

Bahaghari National spokesperson Rey Valmores-Salinas ridiculed the “simple” celebration described by Duterte’s aide, Senator Bong Go.
In a video that surfaced online, it exposed the rather grand feast that the President had. Moreover, it also showed how Duterte tried to grope his housemaid.
Duterte’s camp released a video supposedly to capture his fake, “simple” 76th birthday celebration, but it only exposed how unrepentantly misogynistic Duterte is. #DuterteMANYAK https://t.co/XKyXOKGUMS

Frigging Dirty Old Man had to try poking the girl’s privates for some sleazy fun. Hilas! #DuterteResign #DuterteAngHulingKaarawan https://t.co/NCbLYKZTQ1

With the criticism that Duterte is receiving, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated the incident. According to Roque, Duterte was only joking as he tried to grope his maid named Honeylet.
“‘Yung sinasabi niyong panghihipo, matagal na niyang kasambahay yun eh. Alam mo naman, talagang palabiro ang ating President. Pero walang malisya yun dahil nakaharap naman po doon si Ma’am Honeylet,” explained Roque.
However, Jules Guiang, a former PTV-4 anchor, disagreed with Roque. Guiang wants Roque to refrain from normalizing lasciviousness since it sends a different message to the public.
No malice dahil matagal nang kasama?

Duterte is also currently on flak as the national task force allowed him to hold a public gathering to ‘personally’ welcome the arrival of China’s Sinovac vaccines on Monday.
The Philippines went back into Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on Monday, March 29. The ECQ, which started this Monday, will end on April 4 to mitigate the rise of COVID cases in the country.
