Directed by collaborator Pooneh Ghana and shot on location in Austin, TX, the song “Look Alive” centers around a vintage car named “Psycho 69″. Likewise, the video revolves around the main character fantasizing leaving behind everything they have ever known in pursuit of the dark unknown. As the “Look Alive” video progresses, the driver heads down a dark highway and strange supernatural things begin to escalate around the car as the driver transitions into a different path in life and a new world.
In radio news, the title track “Look Alive” is the #5 Most Added track in the U.S. at Alternative Radio, and the single is #1 on the Alternative Specialty chart in Canada this week. In Asia, tracks from the ‘Look Alive’ album have been added to radio stations like Power 98 RAW and Global Radio Palembang, and featured on streaming platforms across 15 countries including India, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and the Philippines. “Hope in Hell”, a single which American Songwriter hailed as “doomy, stomping”, has now surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify. The band will announce a global performance event live from Austin in the coming months.
A far-reaching sonic landscape, venturing out beyond traditional rock touchstones, ‘Look Alive’ sees the acclaimed group refining their singular two-man approach, outfitting their explosive, impassioned rock ‘n’ roll with a soundscape that is expansive, ethereal, and cinematic. Speaking about the new album, Black Pistol Fire – Kevin McKeown (guitarist/lead vocalist/songwriter) and Eric Owen (drums/bass synth) – reveals “This album was by far the most difficult to make, but also, the one we are most proud of. We’re stoked for everyone to hear what’s been cooking these last few years.”
Their sixth full-length album, ‘Look Alive’ delivers Black Pistol Fire’s renowned fusion of southern rock, blues, and garage punk through a handful of diverse and standout singles–among them the title raucous track “Look Alive”, a psych-laced “Level”, the R&B-inflected “Temper, Temper”, the doomy, stomping “Black Halo”, and the slow-burner “Hope in Hell”.
