After leaving ABS CBN and transferring to TV5, it can’t be denied that some people were upset about Billy Crawford’s decision.
But what is his message for the people who were upset with him because he left ABS-CBN?
In an interview of his new show The Wall on TV5, he revealed that even before ABS CBN’s franchise ended, his contract with ABS CBN is over.
He then reiterated after the ABS-CBN shutdown, there was no assurance on who would ABS-CBN keep given the mass layoffs after its shutdown.
Billy doesn’t have grudges on those who were upset about him leaving ABS-CBN during the non-renewal franchise, “So, sa mga taong nagtampo sa akin, siguro normal naman yun.”
Also, in these trying times, where he has no work and had a newborn baby, Billy revealed that he didn’t think twice in choosing the opportunity the other networks have offered him.
Crawford also admitted that he once thought of packing his bags, selling his properties in the Philippines, and migrating after losing his job as a result of the Pandemic Lockdown and the ABS-CBN shutdown.
“2020 had been tough for most people. We had to climb or break through many walls. Like others, my family and I went through a lot, but the situation also worked to our advantage.”
Thus, Billy hopes that people would understand his decision noting that this wasn’t his first network transfer.
In September 2020, TV5 announced Billy’s transfer from Kapamilya as well as his first Kapatid hosting gig: the Reality Singing Competition The Masked Singer Pilipinas.
When he resubmitted TV5’s announcement to his social media account, he also explained that the transfer was really for his family.
He even turned emotional as he said goodbye to ABS-CBN to move to TV5 when he guested at Vice Ganda’s Gabing Gabi na Vice.
Billy said it was difficult for him to leave the Kapamilya network, but he would do it for his family’s sake.
“I just want to say thank you.
I love you.”
