Five years ago, GMA Pictures made a movie with Vic Sotto and AiAi de la Alas‘s My Bebe Love (2015). This 2021, GMA Network’s film outfit is venturing into another movie starring Kapuso actor Alden Richards and the former Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo.
On Tuesday, March 2, the Kapuso network announced through their public affairs program, 24 Oras, the upcoming project of the two.
The film is co-produced by the three biggest movie outfits in the country: GMA Pictures, Viva Films, and APT Entertainment.
Annette Gozon-Valdez, president of GMA Films who aimed to give the movie an international flavor, said that Alonzo and Richards were the perfect pair to do the project.
“We want to give this movie an international flavor talaga, lalo na we’re having both Alden and Bea together in it, so we feel that this project is perfect talaga,” added Valdez.
But before the contract signing, Alonzo shared that she went to ABS-CBN and asked permission from one of its executives to do the project with GMA Network.
“Gusto kong hingin ‘yung blessing niya and naging ano naman sila, mabait. Even before we said yes to doing a project with Alden, nagkaroon kami ng courtesy to tell them first before we even agreed,” she narrated how she asked permission.
During Tuesday’s press conference, Alonzo admitted that she was anxious about the contract signing. Eventually, she felt comfortable with Richards and the bosses of the three production companies.
“Sa totoo lang, nakakapressure. Kanina coming here I was so anxious. Kinakabahan talaga ako because hindi ko rin alam what to expect. But then, right now I feel so comfortable. I feel comfortable with Alden, I feel comfortable with the ones I just met, the bosses of these three big film outfits,” she said in an interview with 24 Oras.
When asked about her tandem with Richards in the movie, the actress admitted that she is a big fan of the actor ever since she watched his movie with Kathryn Bernardo titled, Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019).
“Ang hindi nya alam, gusto ko rin siya makatrabaho. Kasi I have seen his movie with Kathryn. And I thought he did a very good job with the character. I want to be able to have that chance to actually work with him in a project and develop characters with him,” the actress revealed.
The movie is based on the Korean film, A Moment to Remember.
This is the first time that Alonzo and Richards will work as partners.
In the said film, Alden and Bea will be playing a married couple facing the struggles of early-onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
