With ABS-CBN constantly expanding its reach ever since its shutdown, will it have its news and current affairs programs on another channel?
After the government has ceased the Kapamilya network’s operations, the TV station has announced that some of its shows will now air on Zoe Network (A2Z).
Zoe Broadcasting also confirmed the partnership, saying that some shows of the Kapamilya network are to air through their channel as part of their agreement.
On October 10, 2020, ABS-CBN started to air its shows on A2Z through the latter’s block time arrangement. The programs aired were: It’s Showtime, ASAP Natin ‘To, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin Walang Hanggang Paalam, Paano Kita Mapapasalamatan, Iba ‘Yan, Magandang Buhay, I Can See Your Voice, and Maalaala Mo Kaya.
Recently, the two networks have joined together to create Bagong Umaga, a drama series, which had ABS-CBN’s Heaven Peralejo’s first lead role.
Then this 2021, ABS-CBN collaborated with TV5. The two started with ASAP Natin ‘To and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Then TV5 proceeded to air the entire Primetime Bida lineup up until PBB: Connect of ABS-CBN. The largest network even raised its show’s ratings after the simulcast on another network besides A2Z.
Yesterday, ABS-CBN official announced its partnership with iFlix where its Primetime Bida series will be available to stream on the platform before it airs on TV.
Despite ABS-CBN having an established partnership with TV5 and A2Z, allowing the Kapamilya network to air its programs on free TV via these TV stations, it seems that the broadcasting company will not end its expansion there.
Just this month, ABS-CBN News announced its expansion in the digital space to serve Filipinos globally by streaming worldwide some of its most credible and trusted news and talk shows on its widely-followed YouTube.
These coming months, speculations on ABS-CBN, eyeing for another expansion as the Kapamilya network tries to bring their news and current affairs programs on another channel.
However, some observations are pointing that the network will not bring these programs to A2Z since it has no news and current affairs shows.
With A2Z possibly out of the equation, will ABS-CBN have its News and Current Affairs programs on TV5 or via another network? Will the Kapamilya channel continue to expand and create more deals with other TV stations in the Philippines?
