Among several entertainment forms in the Philippines, noontime variety shows are part of the Filipino pop-culture for over decades now.
The enormous prominence of noontime TV shows captivated the viewers who sing the show’s opening theme song during lunch breaks, six times a week in various places.
TV5’s Lunch Out Loud improved its performance rating while ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime continued to withstand challenges amid its limited viewer reach.
To recall, on January 24, ABS-CBN’s ASAP Natin ‘To successfully aired on the Kapatid network following the cancellation of Sunday Noontime Live and Sunday Kada weekend shows.
With this, Lunch Out Loud hosts and crew had a fear that their show might be axed and replaced by ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime led by Vice Ganda. However, there was no confirmation on the show’s cancellation which made the entire mainstays nothing to worry about.
Lunch Out Loud continued to entertain its viewers in the Kapatid network and improved its free-TV rating performance with its KanTrabahador, Pera Usog, Color Game, Quiz Universe and Sagot Mo, Sagot Ko Fun segments.
Former It’s Showtime’s Billy Crawford and K Brosas, with former I Can See Your Voice colleagues Alex Gonzaga, Wacky Kiray, and Bayani Agbayani led the Brightlight Productions’ block-timer variety show alongside host KC Montero.
Meanwhile, most Kapamilya viewers had missed the fun and noontime entertainment from It’s Showtime since its departure on television in May 2020, after NTC issued a cease and desist order due to the Network’s 25-year franchise expiration.
Until October 10, 2020, Vice Ganda in an exceptionally celebratory mood led the show’s return on free TV through A2Z Channel 11 – a new free TV channel conceived out of the union between Bro. Eddie Villanueva’s Zoe Broadcasting Inc. and ABS-CBN Corporation.
Though it might take a little longer, It’s Showtime continued to withstand despite A2Z’s limited reach from Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
The 10-year old daily noontime show was currently aired on Kapamilya Channel, a pay television network owned and operated by ABS-CBN Corporation, and simulcasted on A2Z from Mondays to Saturdays.
The show was also streamed online on a Youtube Channel and facebook through Kapamilya Online Live and Showtime Online Universe.
It also aired on Jeepney TV and had reach worldwide via TFC with their fun segments like Name It To Win It, Mass Testing, Walang Tunugan, and the all-time favorite search for outstanding amateur talents, Tawag ng Tanghalan.
