The newest grand champion of It’s Showtime‘s segment Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT) JM Yosures had a revelation on twitter.
Yosures, who was declared the grand winner on Saturday, February 6 after a three-hour finale, beat nine other performers: Rachell Laylo, Rica Mae Maer, Emmar Cabilogan, Nikole Kyle Bernido, Makki Lucino, Donna Gift Ricafrente, Mara Tumale, and Ayegee Paredes.
On his twitter account, he revealed a piece of shocking truth: some of his relatives were in favor of the ABS-CBN shutdown.

ABS-CBN lost its franchise last year after 70 congressmen led by former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano voted to reject its application.
However, in October of the same year, the TV station made a deal with ZOE Network, allowing them to continue airing on free TV. Despite ABS-CBN’s shutdown, the Network continues its airing the viewers’ favorite shows via the A2Z channel.
For those who liked the idea of the biggest network in the Philippines being terminated, they still chose ABS-CBN to watch amateur singing contests like Tawag ng Tanghalan.
Yosures‘s declaration that his relatives were pro-ABS-CBN shutdown, and that they watched the variety show of the one they hated—ASAP Natin ‘To—means that the world is healing. Amid the hatred that the Network received from supporters of the government, many still choose to watch shows on Kapamilya.
Yosures’s story is a testament to how negativity can turn into positivity. The champion shared his thoughts on his facebook account about his TNT journey. He also thanked everyone who supported him, with a declaration that he is open for criticism as it would lead to his growth as an artist.
