Long-time celebrity couple Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel admitted their realizations after they almost got separated before.
In a span of twenty-three years, the public saw them grow and mature as actors, individuals, and as a couple.
It seemed like the two already have everything with a thriving career and a lovely family, and no doubt many tagged them as ‘Couple Goals’.
In the Valentine’s Day special of Sarap, ‘Di Ba?: Bahay Edition, Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel shared some details about their love story.
The Kapuso celebrity couple was asked by their twins, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi, when did they realize that the other is already ‘the one’.
“Noong nawala siya”, Carmina admitted.
Carmina said that she realized Zoren was ‘the one’ for her when they got separated for a while before.
“Kasi parang nag-break kami for a while e. So, noong nawala siya, doon ko na-realize na… ‘di ba ‘yun nga ‘yung sinasabi nila na kapag nawala na, marami kang realizations when the person is gone,” the actress-host added.
Zoren continued the story and said that they did not have a boyfriend-girlfriend label, even though they were separated.
“Matagal na e. Natatandaan ko nag-break kami. Pero never kasi kami naging mag-on. Never kami naging boyfriend and girlfriend”, said Zoren.
Carmina also added that there was no courting stage between their relationship.
“Walang kaming boyfriend and girlfriend stage. Wala siyang ligawan stage”, said Carmina.
“Parang bestfriend chuchu..” Zoren added.
Mavy then asked their parents about their most-treasured memory as a couple.
Carmina answered, “Yun ‘yung having the both of you in our lives and then we were in the States pa so parang kami talagang dalawa. Kami lang talagang dalawa. Wala kaming choice kung hindi to take of you and to look out for each other.”
It can be recalled that Carmina and Zoren left their show business careers in the Philippines and lived in America after giving birth to Mavy and Cassy.
The actress-host added that their stay in America strengthened their bond as a couple and as parents to their twins.
“Kaya siguro naging well-bonded din kami ni Tatay (Zoren) because ibang klase din ‘yung pinagdaanan namin sa Amerika. I’m not saying it’s all hardships, of course may paghihirap. That’s what makes our relationship e”, said Carmina.
Since his “That’s Entertainment” days when Legaspi publicly shared his admiration for the 13-year old Villaroel then.
The two were romantically related to other celebrities until they became a couple, however. For a time, Legaspi had been in a relationship with actress Ruffa Gutierrez while Villaroel was married in 1998 to actor Rustom Padilla.
The marriage of Villaroel to Padilla was, however, short-lived. In 2000, she differed greatly from the former hunk star, who publicly admitted his sexual orientation on national television and later reappeared as a ‘lady’ who goes by the name ‘BB Gandanghari’.
Subsequently, Villaroel and Legaspi, who had been friends and neighbors in Pasig for a long time, grew closer and got together eventually.
The actress-host gave birth in the United States to their twins, Cassy and Mavy, in 2001.
Because of the ‘annotations’ and ‘legalities’ from the previous marriage of Villaroel to Padilla, marriage had been elusive for the couple despite being together for twelve long years.
In November 2012, the celebrity couple got married, shortly after Legaspi proposed to his longtime partner Villaroel during her 37th birthday as well.
