When Presidential daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio blasted Vice President Leni Robredo on the grounds of honesty, people reacted violently toward her.
Duterte-Carpio responded to Robredo’s remark that honesty should be a ‘given’ for those seeking public offices.
The words of American statesman, diplomat, lawyer, architect, philosopher, founding father, and the third US President (1801-1809), Thomas Jefferson did fit to what VP Robredo‘s point: “The whole art of government is the art of being honest.”
The Mayor irked at Robredo’s words vexed the latter, “Her honesty has been questioned since day one of her term as Vice President.
“She is not called fake VP for no reason. She has tried to copy her late husband but has failed at every turn. She is facing an electoral protest for massive fraud during the 2016 elections.”
As a result, Alex Medina was confused by the Mayor’s remark. In his twitter account, he wrote that since the very beginning of Robredo’s term, Duterte and his cronies slandered her.
With Duterte-Carpio’s latest statement, Medina sarcastically commended how the woman Mayor empowers women.
Huh?

Netizen @heyjosssh also defended the VP.
According to him, Robredo is the real Vice President and not the one who is making all the electoral protests.
She's the real VP from day one. 'Wag kayong ano ha. https://t.co/ytT1YaHgHl

With her father being criticized by many, @CityMouse pointed that the Mayor should explain the lies her family is spewing.
Sara, You are without an H. Honesty, if I may say so.
Why not address the shiploads of lies delivered by your family?@nuelleduterte https://t.co/4zD5j8jBVG

For @QueenReagent, Robredo and Duterte-Carpio would be an ‘interesting match’ this coming election. Given the behavior that the latter is showing against her rival–Netizens have all the reasons to be disappointed with how she tries to pull down another woman.
I really think the battle for presidency in 2022 will be between these two. Though i can't deny that i am really disappointed by how a woman tries to bring another woman down. #BabaeSa2020 #LetLeniLead https://t.co/hMILCgcQ01

With Robredo’s effort and consistency, @JanrodTy chose the VP as the next Commander-in-Chief of the country.

“The reason why good moral character is not a requirement to run for Vice President is because we have so many Leni Robredos in this world,” the Mayor said.
“And if she insists in saying that you have to be honest to run for public office, then she must say goodbye to her dreams of becoming President.”
However, honesty is essential when you are serving the public. According to Article XI, Section 1 of the Philippine Constitution, “Public office is a public trust. Public officers and employees must, at all times, be accountable to the people, serve them with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty, and efficiency; act with patriotism and justice, and lead modest lives.” Hence, individuals seeking not just the vice presidency, but all public offices must earn the trust of the people.”
Duterte-Carpio, who stressed that honesty is not important when running for a public position, Robredo’s spokesperson, Atty. Barry Gutierrez said that the Mayor’s tirades were nothing but fake news.
Furthermore, Robredo, who was contested by Bongbong Marcos for the Vice President seat after she won, bested Marcos three times. The Supreme Court unanimously dismissed the electoral protests of Marcos.
