Ryan Bang said that the reason Direk Bobet Vidanes left the It’s Showtime family and transferred to another network was that he needed the money to support his family.
The Korean It’s Showtime host made the revelation in a YouTube vlog of Vice Ganda that premiered on Sunday, February 7.
Given the shut down of the ABS-CBN network after its franchise bid was denied, the Kapamilya network was forced to downsize its operations which affected the revenues of Kapamilya artists and staff.
After being a director of It’s Showtime for 11 years, Direk Bobet transferred to the TV5 network and joined the noontime show “Lunch Out Loud.”
In the said YouTube video, Ryan explained how much he felt hurt and betrayed by Direk Bobet whom they already considered as their father on It’s Showtime.
“Ang sakit, ‘tapos siyempre, naiyak ako. Tatay natin yun, e, di ba? Tatay natin sa show. Dapat, walang iwanan,” said Ryan.
“Kasi siyempre, isang pamilya tayo…
“Na-miss ko rin siya. Hindi biro yung samahan natin…
“Ang dami naming memory ni Direk, di ba? Iba iyong samahan namin, magic namin din ni Direk,” he added.
When was asked if he was offended by Direk Bobet’s sudden resignation, Ryan said that he was not offended as he tried to understand the reason behind the director’s actions.
Ryan said that Direk Bobet might be struggling financially that’s why he chose to leave It’s Showtime.
“Hindi naman ako na-offend. Kasi, sinubukan ko rin lahat para maintindihan ko rin yung side ni Direk,” he said.
“Siguro, may pinagdadaanan din sa pera. Kasi ako, wala naman akong totoong anak, e.
“Baka kung nahihirapan talaga sa pera, siguro. Pero siyempre, nakakaiyak talaga. Nakakalungkot,” he explained.
The 29-year-old Korean host also said that Direk Bobet did not tell him about his reasons for leaving the noontime show. But Ryan simply claimed that as a father, Direk Bobet had responsibilities for his family.
“Basta, yung alam ko, kailangan niya talaga ngayon, marami siyang binabayaran. Kailangan niya yata pera, ganun,” he said.
“So, as father, kailangan niya,” he added.
