The new Pinoy Pop group Alamat set to bring Filipino Diversity into the Global Scene.
In the press conference for Alamat, they recounted how the group started, from the auditions to the training process. The group went through a rigorous process despite the pandemic.
“Noong Early 2020 po nagka nationwide search po. Tapos magkaka-auditions na po nagkapandemic po,” said Jao.
“Nung May 2020, nag start na mag training which is online pa lang sya. Yun nga pandemic, di pa kami makaluwas dito. Then nung August, despite na may pandemic…” Valfer added.
“Pinagsasama na kami para sa intensive training, sa singing, sa dance, kasama na yung sa Physical fitness, tapos personal development,” Mo continued.
Then they added that they want to promote Filipino culture and identity through their fashion and music.
“Through our music, Through our fashion, through whatever we do, gusto lang namin i-promote yung kultura ng Pilipinas. We want Filipinos all over the world, from the rich circles down to the masses, to really love their identity,” said Taneo.
They also want to showcase the Filipino Diversity and uniqueness of the Philippines to the world.
“Globally naman po, we want to showcase the diversity and the uniqueness of the Philippines to the world,” said Taneo.
Then Director Jason Paul Laxamana disclosed the rigorous process that ALAMAT went through and their deciding factor for the group.
“First of all, we called for auditions, so nag-apply sila, pero ang unique kasi sa applicants namin dapat proficient sila sa kanya-kanyang wika kung saan man probinsya nila. Kasi from the very start naka-conceptualize yung Alamat to be a multi-lingual P-pop group. Tapos standard audition dapat magaling sila sa singing or dancing, di actually both singing and dancing. Tapos ito yung isang pinaka-crucial, they should be willing to commit to the rigorous process,” said Direk Jason.
To address questions about the sudden interest in emulating Korean Pop, Direk Jason said they wanted to emulate how K-Pop dominated the music scene without dropping the Korean language.
“What is impressive with K-Pop kasi is they were able to parang dominate the world through their music without having to drop the Korean language. Gusto natin i-emulate yun para ma-promote natin yung Pinoy without having to sing in English,” said Direk Jason.
As for Viva Artist Agency, Mr. Punch Liwanag said that the group may look like a K-Pop group but remains Pinoy in essence.
“They already have this edge, yung presentation pa lang, yung packaging nila, so what’s that edge, yung parang they are a K-Pop group but underneath it and yung essence nila is very Pinoy,” said Liwanag.
Alamat is a new P-Pop group under Viva Artist Agency with nine members, each having expertise in singing, dancing, and rapping. Every member is also proficient in their respective dialect. The group is composed of Taneo, Mo, Tomas, R-ji, Kin, Valfer, Alas, Gami, and Jao.
