Melbourne’s finest rockers Brixton Alley release music video for ‘This Party Sucks’

Melbourne-based mischief makers Brixton Alley are set to release the music video for their acclaimed single, “This Party Sucks”.

The electrifying video depicts the band letting loose on the beach with a multitude of gaudy shirts, inflatables and even the odd hula hoop. Throw in the fact it’s all set in reverse for an extra touch of wacky, and you’ve got a bizarrely brilliant music video fit for an equally unpredictable band.

Explaining the inspiration behind the video, they said, “This Party Sucks was written in lockdown 2020 and explores the feelings and emotions that come with it, portrayed in the song as being at a party you don’t want to be at. The video itself is just something fun that we really wanted to create. We have all spent so long cooped up under restrictions that we really wanted to explore the freedoms Australia has to offer. We headed up to an incredible beach in Noosa, Queensland and just had a load of fun shooting the video. We shot the whole thing in reverse, with us walking backwards down the beach, then had it played back to get the effects you see. The song is quite high energy and upbeat and we wanted a video that captured that”.

Releasing their EP 303 last month, Brixton Alley have shot out the blocks in 2021. The four-track project, described by Clash as “an irresistible precocious alt-pop sound”, showcased the band’s ease at maneuvering between exuberant and gritty, reminiscent of the indie-punk prime of the Noughties. Flaunting the fun, fearless flair of the likes of Jamie T and Mike Skinner, Brixton Alley are reviving the lost genre in the finest of fashions.

Having caused a fine ruckus around Australia pre-lockdown, they performed their striking sound around the country’s most hyped venues, including The Epsy, Mo’s Desert Clubhouse and The Zoo, whilst also gaining significant airplay on 4zzz and Bay FM.

With more music on the horizon, Brixton Alley are no doubt one to firmly keep an eye on.

The music video for “This Party Sucks” is set for release on 17th February.
