Veteran broadcaster and known fake news king Jay Sonza is at it again by spreading more fake news on social media.
His latest entry: the Manila Subway Project.
In his recent Facebook post, Sonza shared a post of the alleged progress of the Manila subway project touted as Duterte’s biggest legacy to the country.
Sonza proudly shared a photo of the subway which according to him some parts are nearly finished.
Ganito pala ang itsura sa loob ng tunnel tulad ng ginagawang Metro Manila Subway train sa Pilipinas.
Mukhang…

However, in an article by Rappler, the picture was debunked as fake because it was found out that the photo was actually a subway in Russia.
In the article, Rappler said they did a reverse search of the image which showed that the picture was taken in Moscow, Russia.
In September 2020, the DOTR presented one of the 6 Tunnel Boring Machines in an acceptance test ceremony through a video conference. The machines were expected to arrive in the country by January 2021 with the help of JICA, with the actual tunnel-digging stage is expected to commence in the same month. This means the tunnel digging hasn’t even started yet, a big contradiction to Sonza and other DDS propagandists’ claim.
The subway project is initially proposed in 2000 & 2014.
A loan agreement was signed between President Rodrigo Duterte and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe in 2017.
The project is $350-B.

Meanwhile, this is not the only fake news that Sonza shared on social media lately.
In another recent post, Sonza posted an obviously fake photo of the Manila Bay dolomite beach.
In his post, Sonza attached a fake/altered photo of the Manila Dolomite beach which extended from the US Embassy to the Manila Yacht Club with the caption “Kapag hindi na bawal lumabas ang mga bata o menor de edad, ipapasyal.ko rito ang aking mga apo. Manila Bay Beach Front. Roxas Boulevard, Manila.”

The post was immediately reported as false by Facebook’s independent fact-checkers.
In the past, Sonza also shared several fake news which earned him the monicker fake news king.
Some of the infamous fake social media posts that he shared were the citizenship of Gabby Lopez, ABS-CBN’s ties with the communists, the debunked ABS-CBN loans and tax deficiencies, and many others.
