Bring out the checklists and prepare for an exciting kick-off of the awards season in Hollywood as SKY brings the 78th Golden Globe Awards, airing live on the Blue Ant Entertainment channel on March 1 (Monday) at 9 AM.
Favored to win this year’s Best Drama Actor in Film for his remarkable performance in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” is the late Chadwick Boseman, who is competing against newbies Riz Ahmed and Tahar Rahim, and Hollywood veterans Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins.
Expectation of an upset is intense in the Best Drama Actress in Film category as British star Carey Mulligan is predicted to win her first Golden Globe over prominent names such as Viola Davis and Frances McDormand, following her last nomination in 2009.
In the Best Drama Actress in Television category, two royalties rule—Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth and Emma Corrin as Princess Diana in season 4 of Netflix’s “The Crown,” going in as the two favored to win.
Meanwhile, it’s an all-out battle between streaming giants Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney+ as “The Crown,” “Lovecraft Country,” “The Mandalorian,” “Ozark,” and “Ratched” vie for the Best TV Drama series category.
Organized annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the Golden Globes festivities continue amid these unprecedented times, albeit through virtual means, to acknowledge the talents of the brightest actors, the brilliance of show producers and filmmakers, and to express gratitude to those who entertained the audiences during these trying times in the world.
Acclaimed comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler return as hosts this year but in opposite coasts—New York and California, respectively.
Subscribers can also watch some of the Golden Globe-nominated shows and films, which are all on SKY. “Ozark,” “Ratched,” “The Crown,” “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” and “The Queen’s Gambit” are all on Netflix while “The Undoing” is on HBO and HBO GO, available on SKYcable and SKY Fiber plans.
Watch one of Hollywood’s glitziest nights in the comfort of your home live this March 1 at 9 AM on Blue Ant Entertainment, with a countdown show on the same date airing at 7:30 AM. There will also be a same-day encore on the said cable channel at 7 PM.
Blue Ant Entertainment is available on SKYcable channel 196 for Metro Manila, Camanava/Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, and San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan subscribers; and channel 739 for Bacolod, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Dumaguete, Gensan, and Iloilo-based subscribers.
