The Task Force Zero Hunger (TFZH), chaired by Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles alongside private sectors, non-government organizations, and civil society groups, launched the multi-sectoral movement–Pilipinas Kontra Gutom (PKG), to fight hunger in the Philippines.
According to Sec. Nograles, with their partnership or the whole of nation approach with the private sectors and the public, the task force can succeed in ending hunger in the country by 2030.
“Through this whole of nation approach, we are optimistic that we can end hunger by 2030,” said Nograles.
He also acknowledged that ending hunger in the Philipines is a daunting task. However, he is confident that the country can accomplish this by working together.
“Yes, it’s an extremely daunting task. But, we can accomplish this if we all work together hand in hand,” said Nograles.
Nograles also urged everyone to help out through their respective initiatives.
“In our campaign against hunger, we should be all in, all out––anyone who can pitch in should help, and those who can help should go all out,” said Nograles.
Pilipinas Kontra Gutom aims to alleviate hunger in the Philippines by implementing projects empowering farmers and fisherfolk, addressing malnutrition, disaster response, food banking, resolving food wastage, and promoting sustainability.
Since being organized in November of 2020, PKG has grown and included 70 partners from private companies, non-profit groups, and various organizations.
