Recently, actress Bea Alonzo was engaged in talks with long-time screen partner John Llyod Cruz over the latter’s much-talked TV comeback project after a three-year hiatus from show business.
It was sometime in November 2020 when Cruz got spotted in the office of Brightlight Productions.
The mentioned production, owned by former Negros Occidental Representative, is a TV5 block-timer. The majority of its programs are top-billed by Kapamilya network stars.
According to rumors, a sit-com for John Lloyd with Bobot Mortiz as the director is in the works. Spotted in the background of Cruz’s photograph was Mortiz, while the former is hugging a fan at the Brightlight headquarters.
The initial plan was to start the taping in December 2020, but, they decided to resume in January 2021.
It also seemed that Benitez has confirmed the rumors after posting a photo of him and Cruz on Instagram with a caption, “Better days ahead.”

Speculations also came out that Alonzo was being considered as Cruz’s leading lady in the upcoming sitcom under Brightlight Productions.
The rumors rooted after the actress backed out of Kahit Minsan Lang, a drama series with Richard Gutierrez that was supposed to be aired on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Channel.
The two were also recently spotted together in some viral photos, but it wasn’t clear what they meet up for.
Amid the buzz, a rumor on a sit-com project with Cruz is in the works for TV5 airing, but Shirley Kuan, Alonzo’s new manager, assured that the actress is not doing any television show for now.
On Tuesday, Kuan told ABS-CBN News, that there’s no truth about the reunion of Bea and John Lloyd in a Brightlight Productions via a sitcom on TV5.
The manager also revealed that the actress is now preparing for quarantine, workshops, and lock-in for the film shoot of the Filipino adaptation of the 2004 hit Korean film A Moment to Remember with Kapuso star Alden Richards.
Directed by Nuel Naval, this will be Alonzo’s first big film after the horror-thriller Eerie in 2019.
Bea did not want to bypass the Network that nurtured her career for years, personally sought ABS-CBN’s top brass’s blessings before even agreeing to do a project with Richards.
Kuan claimed that the process of Alonzo’s move had been ‘casual, peaceful, and respectful on both sides.
According to Kuan, the actress remained committed to her reunion movie with Cruz.
“The reunion with John Llyod will start right after Bea-Alden shoot,” said Kuan.
