When ABS-CBN had to shut down last year, employees, artists, and supporters of the Network were devastated. Now that it is nearing its 365 days since its closure, Kapamilya employees could not help but reminisce the good old days.
Former ABS-CBN producer Nick Villavecer looked back in the days where the TV station is physically alive. On his twitter, he remembered that the Current Affairs department of the Network was so full of life, especially during the holidays. Now going back to the present, it has now become empty. The former employee also added that he misses everyone including the noise.

Even ex-Kapamilya Gretchen Ho took a moment to remember her ABS-CBN days. She shared that she missed eating ‘hopia’ and ‘tikoy’, as well as her dates in the show Umagang Kay Ganda.
Namiss ko nga yung taon-taong lamunan ng hopia at tikoy, pati yung mga ka-date kong CS sa @ukgdos.

With former employees sharing what is life back then when ABS-CBN was very much alive, current employee and journalist Anjo Bagaoisan could only sigh at the unfortunate event that the broadcasting company traversed during the pandemic.

With throwbacks, Bagoisan explained the subtle changes in the Network, particularly with the ABS-CBN logo.
The reporter threw some light as to why the logo became black and white. According to him, the reason behind the logo transformation from white to black is because of survival. The Network’s survival was at stake during their battle for a fresh 25-year franchise, which the government rejected.
ABS-CBN’s current logo prefers to swim in white to highlight its RGB rings.
But a year ago, employee & official socmed accounts 1 by 1 switched to a version overlaid on black.
The gloves finally came off, the company’s very survival threatened not just in word but in deed.

For the profile picture used to show support to the Network, Bagaoisan explained that it is about the company’s fate. With its franchise application dropped by Congress, it meant that thousands became unemployed amid the pandemic. However, with the cease of its operation, the Network, along with its loyal Kapamilyas stayed.

The profile pics were a stand for the network, reaffirming its vow & guiding stance no matter what crisis it faced. Its successors, the RGB ribbon & the #KapamilyaForever hearts saw the franchise stripped, junked. Thousands lost jobs. And yet ABS–and its Kapamilyas–stayed. pic.twitter.com/Bbp6fmfpir

The journalist explained the retention of a white glow on ABS-CBN’s logo as the Network, enveloped by darkness due to its losing its franchise. The broadcasting company is still committed to the service of the Filipino people even up to this day.

Looking back, it seems there’s one more reason the ABS-CBN rings are retained in a white box & never allowed to be enveloped by any color–a beacon through it all.In the service of the Filipino we continue to remain.
We won't forget.
