Manahan led Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, from 1992 until his retirement in 2007.
Despite retiring, he remained active as chairman emeritus from 2007 until his departure from ABS-CBN in September 2020 was reported.
On September 25, 2020, ABS-CBN officially appointed Dyogi as the new head of Star Magic.
Conflict of interest involving shadow talent center and the lack of action from the higher management to solve the said conflict were among the reasons revealed by Manahan on why he left the Kapamilya network.
Dyogi was then asked by PEP.ph when his name was mentioned in the issues raised by Mr. M.
However, Dyogi refused to issue a statement on the matter and said he had great respect for Mr. M, who was the former long-time top man of Star Magic.
“I don’t like to make the issue bigger. I have much respect for Mr. M,” Dyogi said in his message through PEP.ph.
He also stated in a previous interview with Ricky Lo of The Philippine Star that along with Freddie M. Garcia, Mr. M will still be recognized as the founder of Star Magic and that there is no other way he will aim to become another Mr. M.
