Blockbuster director Antoinette Jadaone preferred to hold off her The Soulmate Project, which James Reid was supposed to star in after the latter backed out.
Due to the pandemic, Jadaone said she would rather wait to mount the project without any filming restriction rather than scaling it down from its original vision. Momoland‘s Nancy Jewel McDonie, a Korean-American singer-actress-host, is Reid’s leading lady in the series.

With the pandemic, protocols are required in all productions and locked-in taping or filming is described as a bubble. The production had to finish all they need to finish in one scheduled locked-in shoot.
The Jadaone project has scenes that require a larger crowd, which is kind of challenging at this point.
“The Soulmate Project is set not in a pandemic, it’s not meant to be shot during the pandemic na 70 people lang ‘yung puwede sa set,” Jadaone pointed.
“Ayoko siyang i-revise, i-scale down just to fit the safety protocols. Feeling ko magiging iba ‘yung kalalabasan ‘pag ipilit natin sa ganoon.”

Reid, who was picked to portray Jayson, a guy from Tondo, Manila. He is part of the third batch of the bill implementation of the government. While McDonie will play a Korean-American who lives in the Philippines, named Binna.
However, the young actor shocked those who were thrilled to catch the tandem of Reid and McDonie.
“‘Soulmate’, I won’t be doing ‘Soulmate.'”
The series is one of the most anticipated projects of Dreamscape’s roster of projects for 2021.
The production began in February last year, however, it was put on hold due to lockdowns brought about by COVID-19 pandemic.
Jadaone, when asked about the status of the series, she indirectly threw the ball to Dreamscape Entertainment’s court.
“Ang makakasagot niyan ‘yung Dreamscape, because they’re the ones in charge of the production. Hinihintay ko lang ‘yung go signal nila.”
The Soulmate Project will tackle a story in which the Philippine government enacts the imaginary Republic Act 143, or The Soulmate Project that matches citizens with their soulmates.
