An all-original game show, Game of the Gens (GOTG), is about to air to GMA this Sunday, February 14. The Network’s newest game show incorporates singing, dancing, and playing games by making two teams compete with each other.
The show will be hosted by award-winning comedian Sef Cadayona and highly-talented athlete and actor Andre Paras.
During GOTG’s virtual media conference, the Network admitted that both hosts–Paras and Cadayona were ‘handpicked.’
“It has to be Sef and Andre, wala nang isip-isip pa. Kasi bagay sila sa konsepto,” said one of GMA’s creative consultant.
Moreover, the consultant said that the two ‘being childlike’ is the perfect trait for them to host a show like GOTG. The taping for its pilot episode was such a breeze for everyone. The consultant took pride in settling for Paras and Cadayona.
“Makulit. Yun lang. Sobrang kulit nang dalawa. Sobrang gaan ng trabaho, ang bilis ng taping, kaunti lang yung problema. So perfect choice talaga yung dalawa.”
Meanwhile, one of the show’s host, Andre, admitted that hosting defines his passion. According to him, the audience used to see him following a script, but with hosting, he can offer a different part of him–it defines him as an individual.
“This is the first time that Sef and I will be hosting. And obviously we are known for being always on cam, always on TV, following a script, always being a different character. Pero pagdating dito sa hosting, this is who we are as individuals.
“Sobrang kulit namin sa stage, so funny ang engagement namin. That is why I do believe that our personality really fits this show,” Andre said.
In the meantime, Sef will have his hosting debut on GOTG. He admitted this during the virtual conference. He is happy that Andre became his co-host in the show.
“This is my first time to host a game show. At masaya ako na si Andre yung kasama ko kasi very comfortable. Alam namin kung kelan kami magtatimingan ng hiritan,” said Sef.
GOTG will have its pilot telecast on Sunday, February 14. The show’s first guests are Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza and her dad Antonio ‘Tony’ Forteza, who will battle against Kapuso Action-Drama Prince Ruru Madrid with seasoned actress Ms. Snooky Serna.
