Hailed as the Center Girl of the Third Generation MNL48, Abby Trinidad can’t help but feel the pressure surrounding her most coveted title.
As a new girl in the center, Abby can’t help but feel the pressure as she represents the group, worldwide.
“Pagsuot ko po yung Korona feeling ko parang bitbit ko talaga yung buong MNL 48. I’m so very happy po I’m overwhelmed pa rin po ako dahil sa binigay na suporta sa akin ng MNLoves at mga taong sumusuporta sa akin,” Abby Trinidad said in an interview with MJ Felipe.
“I really worked so hard for this, I’m so very very blessed po talaga.”
After getting the much-coveted victory, Trinidad will now face great responsibilities but can’t help to admit that she feels pressured about it, “Yes po. Talagang nakaka pressure dahil bilang MNL 48 Center Girl marami kang responsibilities sa grupo at kailangan mong buo-in yung sarili mo, bilang isang idol.”
“Which is yung character nung isang idol is dapat mong maipakita ma-embody or ma-influence, which ‘yung MNL 48 is to idol out. I’m so very proud po.”
Center Girl Abby is also not just responsible for being the face of the P-Pop group but she is also responsible for MNL 48 to be intact and solid throughout their journey as idols, “‘Yun po talaga ang trabaho ng Center Girl na dapat ‘yung MNL 48 is solid group talagang love lang and nabubuo, unity and of course yung goal na ma-reach ‘yung top as a group.”
An annual event called the General Elections is made every year borrowed from AKB48, their sister group in Japan, so fans can vote for their favorite member. It is similar to a popularity contest.
With her recent win from the General Elections, Center Girl Abby can’t help to be thankful that she finally won as the Center Girl of KMI7 MNL 48 after two years of battling for the title.
“That time po na naging Center Girl ako isa lang ang nasa isip ko, finally eto na, pangarap ko ng dalawang taon ako na yung center girl and I will work hard for the group promise.”
Trinidad adds the victory of the Third General Election to its remarkable resumption as a member of the MNL48. Known as a consistent member of the Senbatsu through the Idol Group’s six singles, most recently part of the double center for “RIVER.”
She was also a permanent fixture on MNL48 guests and appearances at local and international events, such as numerous ABS-CBN TV guestings, two AKB48 Group Asia Festivals last 2019, and One Love Asia online benefit concert last May.
MNL48 is the first Filipino idol group and the third international sister group of AKB48, after Indonesia’s JKT48 and Thailand’s BNK48.
The group is named after Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. MNL48 is the only sister group to have made its debut with exactly 48 First Generation members.
