Win Jaime’s Heart, the BL series from filmmaker Zyril Nica Bundoc and production house Sanny Istudyo, is breaking the internet.
Its freshman run isn’t over—the finale is slated for January 25—but the first five episodes alone have earned a combined total of over 1.5 million views to date.
Based on all the comments users have left on Sanny Istudyo’s YouTube channel, the cast has fans from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. All of them are raving about Win Jaime’s Heart. Everything about it—the acting, the directing, even the musical scoring—has been dubbed by local and foreign viewers as “brilliant” and “groundbreaking.”
The leads Allison Asistio (Jaime) and Matthew Francisco (Winston) are overwhelmed by all the positive feedback.
“I’ll never forget the comment that went, ‘Jaime is the God of seduction. The guy playing him is a God-tier BL actor.’ Another person said Matthew and I have chemistry daw and the sexual tension between us is on point,” says Allison.
“Masaya kaming lahat sa naging pagtanggap ng mga tao sa series namin. We didn’t think they would love it this much,” says Matthew. “I supposethat means we’re doing a good job.”
Last January 18, Jaime and Winston shared a passionate, steamy kiss in the fifth episode. The week before, Win Jaime’s Heart climbed to No. 1 on the BLBoard Chart (a weekly ranking of the most popular BL series in the Philippines). Viewers’ reactions to their kissing scene could very well keep the show at the top spot until the finale.
According to Allison, that scene was done in one take.
“Nag-usap kasi kami ni Matthew na kailangan gandahan namin yung eksena para one take lang. Medyo kinabahan kami pero masaya at the same time. First time ko gumawa ng ganun ka-intense na kissing scene, but confident naman ako kasi I know I’m a good kisser,” he laughs.
“Super fullfilling naman yung pakiramdam namin after we did it, because alam namin na we did our best. We take every scene we do together very seriously. Siguro isa yun sa mga dahilan kung bakit tuwang-tuwa yung mga tao sa show in general, kasi ramdam nila yung effort at pagmamahal namin sa ginagawa namin as actors,” Matthew adds.
Given the success Win Jaime’s Heart has had so far, is it safe to assume that there will be a second season? Allison seems fairly optimistic about the prospect of a renewal. He says they still have so many stories to tell.
“For me meron, kasi napakadami pang aabangan sa background ni Jaime,” he says.
For now, however, he and Matthew want to thank viewers for their love and support.
“Sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa Win Jaime’s Heart, grabe kayo. I can’t thank you enough. Salamat talaga dahil na-appreciate niyo anglahat ngbinuhos namin sa paggawa nitong series na ito,” says Matthew.
“Sana wag po kayo tumigil sa pag suporta!” adds Allison.
