Kapuso actress Sunshine Dizon slammed the government after it was reported that the Presidential Security Group (PSG) was given smuggled COVID-19 vaccine. She said that the government that has the authority over the people should “lead by example.”
In a comment to an Instagram post by GMA news about the said smuggled vaccine, Sunshine said that the government is privileged enough to get away from the violation of smuggling, unlike normal Filipino citizens.
“Tapos sasabihin pasaway ang mga pinoy, paano yung mismo sa taas ugaling kung makaka lusot. Lead by example po kasi sana,” the actress said.
According to the said post of GMA News, the PSG were given the COVID-19 vaccine which is still not authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
On Wednesday, December 30, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana released a statement regarding the smuggled vaccine saying that the PSG will have to explain why they did the vaccination.
“Kailangan ipaliwanag ng PSG ’cause they violated FDA rules… Explain ng PSG bakit ginawa ‘yun,” he said.
It was also reported that the Bureau of Records had no records of the vaccine entering the country and if proven to be smuggled, the PSG will be held against the law.
“Kung mapapatunayan po na ito ay pinasok nang walang pahintulot ng pamahalaan at clearly smuggled, maari po silang kasuhan ng violation ng ating Customs Modernization Act or smuggling,” Lorenzana added.
BOC assistant commissioner Philip Vincent Maronilla also stated that the government got the vaccine for free but he can’t tell the public where they got it.
“Hindi ko rin masabi eh kung saan namin nakuha ‘yun, source namin, but maybe you’ll find out, you’ll know someday,” he said.
“For now, huwag muna, it could jeopardize iyong vaccination program, procurement ng government natin,” he added.
When asked if what the government did were graft and corruption, Maronilla said, “I can’t answer that question.”
Meanwhile, it can be remembered that Sunshine previously clapped back at her bashers who attacked her on social media over her statement against the government and in defense of ABS-CBN.
She posted on Instagram that she can no longer keep her silence about the government’s injustices especially since lawmakers decided to shut down ABS-CBN.
“Wag na tayong mag bulagbulagan kailangan nating ipag laban ang ating kalaayan at protekatahan ang ating karapatang pantao,” she stressed.
Sunshine is known to rarely give her opinion on social issues but when the actress does so, she makes sure that her statement is of quality.
