Laurenti Dyogi, the new Star Magic head, addressed the big stars’ departure issue from the Network’s talent management arm.
In an interview with Ricky Lo, Direk Dyogi revealed how he felt toward the Stars, who opted to move to a different talent arm.
Having a ‘positive’ disposition, Dyogi mentioned that stars like Julia Barreto and Bea Alonzo are stars who had the realization that their priorities and objectives are non-aligned to Star Magic anymore.
“There are a few artists who left last year. Most notable are Julia Barretto and Bea Alonzo. As Mariole shared with me, this has happened in the past wherein artists, at a certain stage in their lives, opt to have other priorities and objectives that are no longer aligned with Star Magic.”
For him, such change is but ‘normal’ and even stressed that some even get to return to Star Magic.
“Maybe it’s like graduating from your alma mater. Some of them come back, while others completely move away from the industry.”
Instead of dwelling in the past, Direk Lauren Dyogi chooses to focus his energy and skills in mentoring and managing the numerous stars who stayed in Star Magic.
“At this point, my focus is on our numerous stars who have stayed in Star Magic and ABS-CBN. When someone leaves, that opens up the time and resource to the next generation of stars.”
The departure of old stars and the arrival of new stars will always be a continuous cycle.
With the establishment of Star Hunt and Rise of Star Cinema, Direk Dyogi perceived it as a way to pave the birth of new stars.
“We still have hundreds in our roster and continue to have recruited, especially with the consolidation of Star Hunt, Rise of Star Cinema and other discoveries from all our talent programs.”
Late last year, ABS-CBN has installed Laurenti ‘Lauren’ Dyogi to replace Johnny ‘Mr .M’ Manahan, who retired as long-standing head of the Star Magic.
