Maja Salvador reacted to ABS-CBN’s ASAP Natin ‘To replacing her TV5 show Sunday Noontime Live (SNL) as the former will simulcast on TV5 starting this Sunday, January 24. The actress-host was a member of ASAP but recently transferred to TV5 to be a part of the now-defunct variety show SNL.
Shortly after the ABS-CBN network shut down due to its denied franchise, several Kapamilya artists transferred to other networks like TV5.
One of the artists who transferred was Maja who followed her ‘father-like figure’ Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan to TV5 to be a part of SNL which Mr. M was directing.
SNL premiered on October 18 and was supposed to rival ASAP Natin ‘To however, after only about 3 months of airing, it aired its final episode on January 17. The cancellation of SNL which was produced by Brightlight Productions was explained as the show only being a ‘season ender.’
On January 21, just days after the cancellation of Maja’s show SNL, it was reported that ABS-CBN and TV5 will have a partnership and that ASAP Natin ‘To will take over the Sunday noon time slot of SNL at TV5. The two network’s partnership also brings the movie block FPJ: Da King to TV5 which showcases the films of Fernando Poe Jr.
Netizens have been curious as to how Maja would react to the collaboration of the said networks and expected the actress-host to be cynical about it, however, Maja showed her support for her previous show, ASAP.
On January 21, the day when the ABS-CBN-TV5 partnership was announced, Maja posted on her Instagram story a photo of the said announcement along with several praying hands emojis indicating that she is hoping for the best for ASAP.
Maja’s reaction made netizens ask if the actress is going back to the ASAP Natin ‘To family.
Meanwhile, Robert P. Galang, the president and CEO of Cignal and TV5, mentioned that the collaboration of the said networks marks the beginning of new partnerships.
“This collaboration between CIGNAL, TV5, Brightlight Productions, and ABS-CBN marks the start of greater cooperation among our various industry players and begins a new era of partnership,” he said.
“The airing of ASAP and FPJ’s movies on TV5 showcases the desires of TV5 and ABS-CBN to serve our viewers in the best way possible,” he added.
