KathNiel shares their proudest moment of 2020

Before the closure of ABS-CBN last year, it was once shut down on September 23, 1972.

It was during the Martial Law when the former dictator-President Ferdinand Marcos announced that the Station’s television and radio stations were sequestered. This lasted for 14 years (until July 1986).

This time around, during the closure of the broadcasting company last year, many violations were thrown by the allies of former Speaker of the House Alan Peter Cayetano. Moreover, the President, Rodrigo Duterte threatened the station that he will close the Network. And it did.

The corporate giant ceased its broadcast in May 2020 after its franchise expired. Through false promises from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Network believed that they could still operate until 2022 even with an expired franchise license. However, that same month, NTC issued a cease and desist order resulting in an immediate stop on the Network’s operations.

This caused supporters of the Network, as well as its employees, to conduct protests. Despite the uproar from Filipinos, it was closed down with a 70-11 vote from lawmakers rejecting its franchise renewal.

As a result, a massive talent of the Network began to transfer from rival networks to secure themselves with jobs during the pandemic.

However, many kept their loyalty toward the defeated ABS-CBN.

Among them are Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

Now, with their House Arrest of Us ending, they were asked what is the proudest moment for them during 2020.

Kathryn made sure that everyone will know that she and her boyfriend Daniel will stay by ABS-CBN’s side through thick and thin.
She answered that her proudest moment was when they fought for the Network and they never left even though it was forcibly closed.

“Siguro proud kami sa isa’t-isa na hindi namin iniwan yung ABS-CBN. Yun yung proudest moment namin for 2020. Alam namin na pinaglaban namin yung pamilya namin,” Kathryn responded.

She is also proud of Daniel and their fans who supported them with their fight against such injustice.

“So I think proud ako kay DJ don, proud kami sa mga fans na tumayo. And I think we did the right thing,” she added.

Meanwhile, to give a little bit of humor, Daniel answered that he is proud of Kathryn’s cooking.

“Proud ako sa mga luto mo, ang sarap eh,” he jokingly said.

However, on a serious note, the actor shared that he is proud of Kathryn’s achievements.

“Proud din ako syempre sa ano ni Kathryn nung last year. Nakakaproud naman yung lahat na mga achievements na nagawa ni Kathryn, di ba last year. So lahat nang hirap at pagod nya ay nag paid off, so proud ako,” he added.

Their Web series House Arrest of Us is available on KTX.ph and iWantTFC will bid its goodbye as it reaches the final episode. The finale is set to be shown this Saturday.
