Comedian and resident host of Eat Bulaga! Jose Manalo finally got A solo hosting gig in GMA’s upcoming game show Catch Me Out Philippines.
Though he has the support of co-hosts and “Spotters” Kakai Bautista and Derrick Monasterio, this will be the Manalo’s first time to be the main host of a show.
With him finally getting his big break as a host, speculations arose as to him being the Kapuso network’s contender to the likes of Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford when it comes to hosting.
During the virtual media conference of Catch Me Out Philippines, Manalo was asked what does he feel that now he is being compared to hosting veterans such as Manzano and Crawford.
The comedian-host admitted that he is not thinking about it nor is he comparing himself to other hosts from different networks. However, he is grateful that people see that he can compete when it comes to hosting.
“Hindi ko masyadong iniisip eh. Pero sa tanong mo, nakakatuwa syempre. Masaya. Matagal na rin tayong nagkakasama at hindi ako masyadong nag-eexpect ng mataas para sa sarili ko. So kung dumadating yung mga bagay na ganito, tinatanggap ko lang siya ng walang pag-iisip na eto ako, katapat ko to, parang si ganito, hindi. Pero masaya at maraming nagsasabi na yun nga raw, thank you,” said Manalo.
For him now being pegged as rival of Manzano and Crawford, the TV host shared that he will up his game and will do better.
“Ang mas maganda na gagawin ko pagbubutihin ko pa tong ginagawa kong trabaho eh,” he added.
Catch Me Out Philippines is a reality game and talent show where contestants take on the challenge to try and fool the audience that they are professionals.
Each week, two performers will train under the watchful eye of their mentors to master a skill and perform them in front of 10 celebrity catchers, including the show’s regular Celebrity Spotters Kakai Bautista and Derrick Monasterio.
Catch Me Out Philippines will be coming on GMA Network this February, where the greatest pretender wins.
