Actress Janine Gutierrez finally breaks her silence on the buzz circulating about her possible transfer to Kapamilya network after signing an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN on Friday, January 15. Thus, her 9-year career with the GMA network officially ended.
With many Kapamilya stars leaving the Network, people have lauded Gutierrez as she went against the trend by deciding to switch to ABS-CBN amid the Network’s shutdown and franchise denial.
According to the actress, she wanted to try something new and different’ this 2021.
The 31-year-old Gutierrez opted to embark on changes in her showbiz career with a ‘New Year, New Home’ mantra.
Gutierrez didn’t only receive a warm welcome from the Kapamilya Network, but is greeted with upcoming projects for 2021, too.
One of the projects lined-up for her is the romance film Ngayon Kaya opposite Paulo Avelino. The film is supposedly a Metro Manila Film Festival 2020 entry, but its latest release date is in March or in May this year.
On Tuesday, January 19, TBA Studios released a trailer for its upcoming movie Dito at Doon. In the said film, JC Santos is to play her leading man. The story tackles a love journey that started during the pandemic. She also shared that they shoot the project during pandemic before Christmas.
The filmmaker-behind-the-success of the 2017 movie, I’m Drunk, I Love You, JP Habac will direct the film.
As a newly-certified Kapamilya, having a TV series under Dreamscape Entertainment is not far from reality. There are speculations of her portraying Valentina in the TV adaptation of the popular Filipina heroine, Darna.
Some believe that she fits the antagonist character in the superhero series. To recall, she has portrayed a dragon lady in her previous mother studio in 2019.
At press time, ABS-CBN has not yet released any details of the future director of Darna.
