Allies of the Former House Speaker and Taguig-Pateros Representative Alan Peter Cayetano, namely Anakalusugan Partylist Rep. Michael T. Defensor and Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte, lost their leadership posts in various House Committees in Congress.
Rep. Defensor, who recently lost his chair post in the House Committee on Public Accounts and Good Government, also lost his vice-chairpersonship on five committees.
These are the Committee on Health, Committee on Public Information, Committee on Dangerous Drugs, Committee on Public Accounts, and Committee on Strategic Intelligence.
These are the names who will take over Rep. Defensor’s posts: Rep. Dahlia Loyola as vice-chairperson of the House Committee on Health, Rep. Carl Nicolas Cari as vice-chairperson of the House Committee on Public Information, Rep. Arnie Fuentebella as vice-chairperson of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs, Rep. Jake Vincent Villa as vice-chairperson of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, and Rep. Ian Paul Dy as vice-chairperson of the House Special Committee on Strategic Intelligence.
Meanwhile, Rep. Villafuerte, who recently received the boot from his Deputy Speaker post, also lost his vice-chairperson post on the House Committee on Public Accounts to Rep. Fuentebella.
Most of Cayetano’s allies have been in the spotlight because of their hand in the ABS-CBN Shutdown when Congress denied its franchise renewal.
In November 2020, allies of Cayetano also received the boot when House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco took over. Among these were former deputy speakers, Capiz 2nd District Rep. Fredenil Castro, Laguna 1st District Rep. Dan Fernandez, and Batangas 2nd District Rep. Raneo Abu.
Recently, the Netizens and celebrities ridiculed Cayetano, and his allies for coining their new coalition as BTS (Back To Service), after the worldwide phenomenal Korean Boy Band.
