“Midnight In a Perfect World,” a horror film starring Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Glaiza de Castro is set for worldwide and exclusive release on UPSTREAM.ph beginning January 29, 2021.
The top-selling film of QCinema International Film Festival 2020 is a production of Globe Studios and Epicmedia Productions.
The movie is set in a futuristic and seemingly perfect Metro Manila where blackouts happen nightly and people disappear mysteriously. The only way to survive — hide in safe houses without windows.
Jasmine plays “Mimi” and Glaiza as “Jinka”. Both are convinced, the weird events are a hoax even as they find themselves caught in a blackout. As the plot thickens, they discover what really lurks in the strange darkness, that is if they make it out alive.
Joining Glaiza and Jasmine in the cast are Anthony Falcon, Dino Pastrano and Bing Pimentel.
Filmmaker Dodo Dayao is the writer and director of “Midnight In a Perfect World,” his second full-length feature film.
During the limited run in late 2020, the horror movie had a world premiere in QCinema’s Before Midnight Section where it became one of the most watched and most-talked-about films. Critics described it as “one of the best of the year,” “disorienting,” “intense” and “well put together.”
In messages posted on their respective Instagram accounts, the female stars highlighted the specialness and timeliness of their project.
“So thrilled that ‘Midnight In a Perfect World’ is streaming,” said Glaiza. “Ang masasabi ko lang… hindi maisasa telebisyon ang rebolusyon,” the actress added translating American poet and musician Gil Scott- Heron who performed the song “Revolution Will Not Be Televised.”
Jasmine, meanwhile, invited her followers to get lost and scared in the haunting universe they have created. She said, “Let us guide you in the world of random blackouts, curfews, running from the you-know-whos and figuring out what kind of trip this is all about.”
Considered as two of the bravest and most versatile actresses of their generation, Jasmine and Glaiza are known to take unconventional projects that challenge their comfort zones. This latest collaboration highlights that fact. “Midnight In a Perfect World” is their first horror film together.
