ABS-CBN’s TV series Bagong Umaga is about three families whose lives were intertwined when a nurse decided to switch the babies of the Magbanuas and the Veradonas.
Actor Chris Villanueva plays the uncompassionate Dr. Christian ‘Ian’ Veradona. His daughter, played by Heaven Peralejo, ends up as the Veradonas’ daughter.
During an interview with LionhearTV, Villanueva was asked what would he feel if his child was not truly his. He responded by saying that there was no doubt that he will still love the child even if it wasn’t his own.
He admitted, however, that he was afraid of what could have happened to his real child. Questions raced in his mind whether his real daughter would recognize him as the biological father and if the child would love him back.
“Para sakin, it’s more of yung takot na hindi ko man lang nalaman kung anong nangyari dun sa totoong anak ko. At ngayong malaki na siya, kikilalanin kaya niya ako? Mamahalin din kaya niya ako?” Chris continued.
Nevertheless, he thinks the question is what happened to the real one.
“I don’t think magbabago yung pagtingin mo sa sinabi mong unang nakilalang anak. It’s more of a question of anong nangyari dito sa isa?” the actor asked.
He also added that knowing his real child is out there somewhere; could be unimaginable for any parent just like him.
Yun yung parang unimaginable. Unimaginable para sa isang magulang.”
As a parent, he could relate to the series’ plot. He doesn’t want to experience the same fate that his character is going through. He is afraid that he would not know how to react if that occurs to him in real life. As anxious as he is, questions flooded his mind, like how his daughter would accept him as her father.
I think yun ang pinakamahirap na imaginin,” said Chris.
Chris is joined by a talented cast led by Heaven Peralejo, Tony Labrusca, Barbie Imperial, Kiko Estrada, Michelle Vito, and Yves Flores.
