James Reid and Nadine Lustre break up
Reid and Lustre officially confirmed their breakup on January 21, 2020, after years of being together as a love team and real-life couple. Their announcement left their fans heartbroken and in denial, with most of them hopeful for the chance of seeing them together again. While many fan theories surfaced on the internet about the reason for the split, there really are no official accounts that have proven any of the allegations thrown against either James or Nadine.
Since the breakup, fans have repeatedly alluded to the ex-lovers’ reunion, and news items about them getting back together in each other’s arms have kept the JaDine fans excited. However, amidst speculations and alleged evidence of their reunion, an official statement from the two has yet to be released.
Janella Salvador and Markus Paterson confirm relationship
Paterson confirmed his relationship with Salvador via an Instagram post which showed a video of him and Janella slow-dancing (and kissing) to Michael Buble’s “Me and Mrs. Jones”, with a caption that read “my world”, a post to which Salvador replied with a separate Instagram post on her own account, where she shared a photo where she was sharing a hug with Paterson in Osaka, Japan. Salvador previously came from a breakup with fellow Kapamilya star, Elmo Magalona.
Sam Milby and Catriona Gray confirm being together
There were already speculations hinting at Gray’s romantic link with Milby even before their May announcement. The announcement came in the form of polaroid snaps which the two posted on their respective social media accounts. There were also reports that Milby was partly the reason for Gray’s decision to part ways with her previous boyfriend, model Clint Bondad.
Luis Manzano and Jessy Mendiola got engaged
Manzano has repeatedly expressed his preparedness to settle down with his girlfriend Jessy Mendiola since they became official in 2016. In December 2020, the two finally shared the news that Mendiola finally said yes, hinting at a wedding that might take place next year. Manzano shared the news while teary-eyed, on his television show, I Can See Your Voice, the following week. His mom, Star for all Seasons, likewise expressed her excitement of seeing her son finally settling down. Before Mendiola, Manzano was in serious relationships with Jennilyn Mercado and Angel Locsin.
Death of Pinoy Cinema legends, Ramon Revilla Sr. and Anita Linda
Philippine cinema icon, and former senator, Ramon Revilla Sr. died on June 26, at age 93. The cinema legend had among the longest and most impressive local filmographies in the industry, the most popular of which are the Agimat movies. Earlier that month, veteran film actress Anita Linda, also passed away at the age of 95. Known for award-winning films, Noli Me Tangere (1951) and Sawa sa Lumang Simboryo (1952), Linda was the oldest-living Filipino actress before she departed.
Demise of YouTube superstars, Emman Nimedez and Lloyd Cadena
Youtube Pinoy vlogging pioneer Cadena reportedly contacted the coronavirus first, before a heart attack claimed his life on September 4. He had more than 5 million subscribers and almost 7 million followers on Facebook when he passed away. Cadena was known for his funny videos where he gave away cash, pranked his friends, and shared hilarious events about his life.
Emman Nimedez, on the other hand, died of leukemia, on May 17. He battled for months with his illness, which he announced via his YouTube account with almost three million subscribers. First known for his ‘Goblin’ spoof, Nimedez entertained his viewers through short films, fun covers, and parody videos.
Jukebox Icon April Boy Regino’s Death
Regino had been battling with prostate cancer since 2014, before finally succumbing to the disease, November this year. Popularly known as ‘the Jukebox King’, Regino was originally part of the April Boys trio, before deciding to pursue a solo career. Among his greatest hits include Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin and Paano Ang Puso Ko. He was 59 when he passed away.
Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo finally become husband and wife
Guidicelli and Geronimo were engaged for a year when they finally tied the knot in a private wedding—away from the media’s prying eyes—in February. Reports earlier suggested a scuffle between Matteo and one of Geronimo’s bodyguards, which was allegedly caused by Sarah’s mother, Divine, who had been against her child getting married, ever since.
The two love birds reportedly sealed their marriage in a Christian ceremony at a Victory Church in Taguig.
