With ABS-CBN’s Christmas Station ID this year, Jane de Leon finally got to have her own moment in the music video of “Ikaw ang Liwanag at Ligaya”.
For those who do not know, having a solo moment on ABS-CBN’s CSID means that you are one of their big stars.
It seems that ABS-CBN is considering Jane as a big star. The actress is still set to start the production of the remake of the TV series, “Darna”.
However, many fans were not happy that Jane is being considered as a “big star” by the Kapamilya network.
@ImNotthatScary tweeted, “May solo moment talaga si Jane de Leon. Luh. Kris Aquino? #IkawAngLiwanagAtLigaya.”

@Loinie_R didn’t like Jane being highlighted in the CSID since the Twitter user does not consider her as a star yet.
The twitter user wrote, “Isa lng ang hindi maganda dun sa CSID, yung highlight kay Jane De Leon. Big Star ang datingan wala naman ningning. Kelan kaya titigil ang management na i-push ito? #IkawAngLiwanagAtLigaya.”

@AmazinggRe also concluded that the exposure given to Jane should be given to others that were more deserving.
She tweeted, “ [I] don’t like Jane de Leon’s exposure. Sikat ba siya? Sikat na ba siya? E hindi pa nga naging darna. “Da who” lang naman sya before. Masyadong binibigyan ng exposure na prang nakakalimutan na ung iba @ABSCBN #IkawAngLiwanagAtLigaya.”

The reason that some netizens don’t like Jane is that she did not participate in the protest of ABS-CBN employees against the shutdown of the company.
Angel Locsin was one of the most vocal and most active in defending the network. She was among those who joined a July 18 noise barrage protest after the denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise bid.
Angel who called out her fellow artists to participate in the protest said, “Sa lahat ng artistang hindi nagsasalita, ano? May career pa ba kayo? Wala na, wala na kayong network… Kahit magpa-cute kayo diyan sa Instagram.””
On the other hand, Jane chose to be silent and not participate in the efforts of her fellow Kapamilyas who stood against the decision of the Congress. In a lengthy Instagram post, Jane said that with the many problems globally and locally “each of us has a different approach on how to resolve and overcome these challenges.”
For her, rallying outside doesn’t mean she does not support the protest against the shutdown but rather stay in her house. Her primary concern was the frontliners and health workers that were fighting against COVID-19.
As a result of her silence, she was heavily condemned as the next Darna. Many think that she doesn’t deserve the role and that a heroine like Darna should act and not be silent when she sees something wrong.
And now that she has been given enough exposure on the Christmas Station ID, enough for her to be considered as a big star, netizens couldn’t help but react to her previous action towards the fight of ABS-CBN against its shutdown.

Adding to the criticism that Jane received, she was also heavily criticized due to her dance cover of BLACKPINK’s iconic song “How You Like That”. Some netizens even pointed out that instead of participating in the protest, she was busy doing a dance cover of the song.

People have been speculating that Jane is not grateful enough to ABS-CBN, who has built her career, to give her full support against the shutdown of the network.
